My problem is finding a coherent set of files that match my situation.

For instance the link you just gave me said

Note for WM6.1 users

Do not try this on 6.1! You will need to downgrade to 6.0

I am 6.1

Other threads that lead from these say such things as download the 5 files below and there are only four

I now have a basic understanding but have not been able to find (in one place)

an

SSPL
hardspl
Unlocker
Rom

So I am not sure if different thread downloads actually match others.

Do I NEED to run SSPL to load the hardspl as there is no sspl on the download page for the 3.26 hardspl I have downloaded

So to unlock with this one it says downgrade to 6.1 to unlock with Orange

But at the begining of this thread it says

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ORANGE TYTN II SHOULD NOT HAVE A DIFFERENT ROM FLASHED TO IT, AS IT WILL CAUSE THE DEVICE NOT TO FUNCTION WITH ANY SIMCARD EVEN THE ORANGE ONE, YOU MUST FIRST GET YOUR DEVICE UNLOCKED BY YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER!

So how is this possible as the methods both conflict

Have got hardspl on now

Just looking for something to unlock from orange

As it is 6.1 the unlocker I have found is not suitable

I have not been able to find an unlocker for WM 6.1

And with being locked to Orange cannot just overwite the existing rom

I cannot actually find a post that says it has an ulocker suitable for WM6.1

Until I unlock it I cannot go further according to this thread

Have you tried another sim in your device since installing Hard SPL?

I do not have any other sims apart from my O2 sim

Okay lets clear this up! Your device should now be unlocked and have hard SPL installed as this is an all in one solution posted by JockyW. The post you refer at the beginning of this thread is out of date to be honest and the solution has been found long ago for Orange 6.1 roms!

You should now be able to flash any rom to your device and install any sim, try it and see! If you get stuck please ask for further help.

If you are still not 100% happy install the original Windows Mobile 6 rom and CID unlock that then install a 6.1 rom of your choice it will stay unlocked.
