Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync
Now the bad news.
I tried the first suggestion to reset all the options - no luck USB device not recognized
I tied all three different pairs of USB ports This usb device is not recognized
Then I did a hard reset and the same result - This usb device is not recognized.
I tried a new usb cable This USB device is not recognized
Now what? It does charge hooked up to the computer so the cable at least is connecting
It thinks the device is an Unknown device
I have tried to reinstall windows mobile device centre same result
Do I go back to t-mobile and ask what the heck should I do?
I have removed /broken the sync settings on the vista box
The only good news the sprite backup is self extracting and restored my system back to where it was because I couldn't reinstall anything because there was no active sync...
A very perplexed devoncatt

Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync
Only suggestion I have left is for you to try connecting to a different PC. That way you can find out for sure whether it's some problem on the PC or that the device is faulty. However given all the reinstalls you have done it sounds as if the PC is less likely to be the problem.

Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync
The PC could still be the problem, if the USB Drivers are misreading the device type. When you plug a device into a USB port, the system looks in its known locations for the driver- if the known location has become associated with the wrong drivers, then the device won't be found.
There was some advice elsewhere about removing the driver associations with the USB ports, but that is some way beyond my ability to advise in any detail!

I don't think the "misreading" is likely to be the issue. The way the drivers and device ID's work this is exceptionally unlikely.
The driver association with different USB ports is easy to test, you simply change port. The drivers are only installed to one port at a time. Try plugging a USB mouse into a different port and you'll see it'll automatically install the drivers again for the new port.
The problem you have is that your issue could be either PPC or PC based. At this juncture the best thing to do is try a different PC. Preferably a non Vista PC. If you can get access to an XP machine, install Activesync 4.5 and see if the device is recognized then by the driver. If it is then it's a PC issue, if not it's your device. In the long run it'll save you a lot of time.

Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync
I had the same thought and this morning I installed active synch on a laptop running XP. And device not recognized- unknown device appeared when I used the two different usb cables and the MDA III. So perhaps it's the MDA III that is knackered - not the computers unless I have two dead USB cables .
Perhaps it is related to the usb failure problem found on the early active brodit mounts?
I plan to go to the t-mobile store and raise havok later today I want another TYTN II !
I can't imagine the same usb cable that worked fine on my old wizard, O2 XDA2s and blackberry causes problems with TYTN II ( MDA III)? Could this be the problem?
Should this be passed to the xda developers? Could it be that the newer HTC devices use the usb port for sync, charging and headphone be too much or requires a special mini usb cable?
I tried a third usb to mini usb cable on all the different ports on both a vista and XP machine . The odds that there were three bad usb cables and all the ports on two machines was bad is rather small.

Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync
Did you try a hard reset yet? I didn't spot in the threads (excuse me if you already have) there's a possibility this could help. The cables SHOULDN'T matter, but it's always best to try a couple of different ones.

I've been using the same dodgy 12" long USB cable to sync to my work PC since they started using the mini USB plug. My Kaiser was fine with it, and I know for a fact that the pinouts haven't changed on the Kaiser. No, unless your cable has become damaged this won't make a difference.

Yes I tried a hard reset same result. I went to t-mobile store and now have a new MDA III and I will see if it works when I get home.
