Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync

New MDA III first three times plugged into vista box. Windows mobile remote agent failed to install software #2. Fourth try it installed fine and is syncing now.. What the heck is happening. The XP laptop still says unkown usb device. I also used a brand new fresh usb cable

To me is seems there is a bug in the Windows Mobile software running on MDA III's??? Now the big questions are:
Do I do a restore and see what happens?
Or Do I re-install everything?
There is nothing on the device but TomTom on the miniSD card seems to have installed itself- no I am not kiddingIt appeared on the bottom of the today screen. And it works--isn't that bizarre?

Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync

Side Note, Devoncatt,

TomTom will self-install/start whenever you reset the device as there is a folder on the Storage Card called '2577' - renaming it to '2577-bak' will stop this happening. If you ever need to re-install just rename it back to '2577' again.

As to your other problems, certainly looks like there may be specific issues with your device....

Simple solution - reinstall activesync 4.5.

I had the same problem and this sorted it!

Thanks for that advice aintree- and welcome to 4WM

As you say, sometimes a re-install of AS will work, but I'm afraid it often doesn't. All the long running threads about this problem have included what you suggest to no avail.

Which device do you use?

Another weird problem can also prevent your device from synching -If your outlook email box is too large ,even if you don't sync email. I found out after exhaustive testing the size of the mail box was what was causing my problems.

So go on then, what was the size of your mailbox that was causing the problem?

Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync

Hi all. Googling my (similar) prob with the HTC Kaiser aka Vodafone 1615 aka TytnII I found this forum, so I registered.

My problem is that my MDA (USB)synced fine with WMDC on my Vista64 box, (TomTom, Outlook 2007 etc.etc.) until recently. No new installs, no new hardware, nothing.
But now it doesn't anymore.
I read all forums, threads and subjects on this challenge and tried everything. My main impression is that WMDC has some (to say the least) bugs.
OK, what did I do?
1. I disengaged "advanced networking" in the USB connection settings on the Kaiser, this resulted that the Kaiser then showed itself as a "HTC USB device" in Vista's device manager under "Mobile devices"
2. I re-engaged "advanced networking" in the USB connection settings on the Kaiser, this resulted that the Kaiser showed itself as a "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" under "Network Adapters" in Vista's device manager.
But in both cases it didn't sync. Nor could i approach the Kaiser as a "Storage Device", which normally would work.
3. Re-installing WDMC (mobile_drvupdate-amd64.exe) didn't solve the problem either.

The last resort will be installingactive sync on a XT box, installing Outlook 2007 there too, exporting Agenda and Contacts form my Vista box to my XT Box and try syncing there.
So much for the modern marvels of personal digital assistance.

Any further suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Hi knsm-eiland,

Sorry you are having issues!

Apart from what you have tried the only other thing is to delete the partnership on the PC itself and see if that restarts the sync process...

Re: htc kaiser tytn Iis not recognized by active sync

You haven't by any chance installed VIsta SP1 have you? It has been known to cause various problems. I have the beta version of SP1 working find and my MDA syncs well now. What I did was kill outlook as a mail client and cleaned out most of the emails. I use thunderbird instead.

Now my MDA III syncs fine except for one nagging problem the MDA gets anything entered over written because ti says there is a change in the Exchange settings which requires the exchange server to overwrite everything on the MDA. I am almost afraid to break and re try syncing because it is sort of working now. I also sync my exchange calendar with google calendar using syncit.
