Re: Looking at TyTN II on Orange

Hi,

Thanks for the offer from anyone willing, but I don't disclose my geographical location on forums.

I know that with the Sony Ericsson K610i I can get 3 bars in some parts of the house upstairs, downstairs inside is out of the question, and if I go outside I can get the 3G network with 4-5 bars.

If the phone will be slightly worse (not a big problem), then I can live with it.

T-Mobile is now looking likely as their data plan seems to be very good, but the downside is that the calls are a bit more expensive should I call something "out of bundle".

Best regards,
TyTN-II.

Re: Looking at TyTN II on Orange

My monthly bill has, with one exception, always been within £2 of the contract and rarley find issues with cover even in deepest Somerset. I'm lucky as my device was one of the first out of the door and according to gossip they didn't block HSPDA until the later devices so every now and then I even get the "H" symbol and some amazing download speeds.

(Ps. The 1 exception was a single day in Belgium and 80Mb of data! Still don't know how but the nice people at Customer Support were VERY helpful)

The Mailman was talking about T-Mobile.

Orange allow full HSDPA reception where its available- and the area is increasing quite fast. Trouble is, you can soon exhaust your month's 30MB limit that way!

Another issue I have with Orange (who I am stuck with as they are the only operator giving any coverage for me at home ) is that in busy areas their cell congestion is bad, meaning even though you may have a nice fast connection, it can take 2-3 minutes to actually get a slot in the cell.

I find this especially in the City of London at evening rush hour; once out to Tottenham, things improve markedly, but it is very annoying.
