Sync troubles; activesync doesn't find my phone

Hi all!

Bought the Kaiser a month or two ago. Due to a little accident I had to resend it to HTC for reparation. It came back last week, TomTom was no longer installed, so I tried to re-install everything.

However, ActiveSync does not find my Kaiser any longer... All what happens is the basic Windows "new hardware found" screen that starts up when I connect my Kaiser via USB. Installation fails. ActiveSync does not automatically connect or anything at all.

At first I thought I was using the wrong USB cable (one never knows... ) but now I am using my HTC-USB cable again and still nothing happens when connecting...

Help...

And thanks in advance!

I had a similar experience with my Orbit 1 - ActiveSync started going through the "New Hardware" procedures and tried to create a new sync folder.

In my case, it was that the device name had changed, so it was being viewed as a new device.

Might be worth checking Start > Settings > System > "About" > Device ID > "Device Name" to make sure it is the same as it used to be i.e the same as the name of your existing desktop sync folder. *** make sure you back up important stuff, before you change anything ***

Hope this helps

Might help indeed, since Windows is trying to give the "new hardware" a new name too (windows mobile device #2, #3 etc...).

I'll try it and let you now, and thx already!

*sigh*

Looks like I removed all folders when re-installing ActiveSync. I'll try and remove everything again and re-start from the beginning. Let's hope I get it to work then.

I noticed by the way that I get this problem on other PC's too. So maybe it has something to do with my Kaiser itself?

FYI:

Settings > Connections > USB to PC > Uncheck "Advanced Network functionality" (or something like that - mine's in Dutch )

That solved the issue.

Ahhh yes - if "Enable Advanced Network functionality" is ticked, then Activesync WONT see the device properley.

I forgot to mention that one - it has happened to me with my Orbit 1 and it isnt mentioned in the instruction manual.....
