Gps

Hi,

How do you get the internal GPS to work?! It says "Acquiring Satellites... (0)" forever! I know that when you first use GPS though it has to update its almanac for your position and day/time. Does this take a while? My Garmin GPS V takes 5 mins when "cold" to figure out where it is and then update.

Best regards,
TyTN-II.

Re: Gps

Which program are you using? Is it set to the correct GPS COM port (4 I think on the TytnII)?

If so, do you have a clear view of the sky in open air- the initial fix can take up to 20 minutes.

Re: Gps

Quick GPS comes with many of the HTC phones and will download the locations of the satelites speeding up the gps fix. The GPS will not work indoors. Have you acquired a mapping program ( ( such as tom-tom) or are you using google maps?

Re: Gps

I know i was having trouble with TomTom when i first installed it, if your using TomTom then you need to use the setting "other nmea receiver", or something to that effect, with the com 4 and baud 4800. Mine takes some time to find satellites but once it has done it works fine.....

Re: Gps

What ever you do STAY OUT OF EXTERNAL GPS with a TyTn.

Run QuickGPS across a WiFi or USB connection to get a good download.

Go outside turn on Bluetooth and then run your GPS app and configure as COM4 and 4800. It may take a while for its first fix. Also try to use something other than Google for the first run.

A good tip is to use GPS at least evry 3/4 days just to keep the system happy.

Good luck

Why turn on Bluetooth? The Kaiser has an internal GPS

Definitely- making ANY change to the settings in this control can permanently disable the GPS, needing a hard reset to restore.
