Re: What security measures do you use on my mobile?
very lapse here. i should really put sim lock on.
but device is always with me!
just for info, with the standard WM lock you can display user info:
start > settings > user info
put a tick in box to show info when turn on device.

I suppose it depends on whether you are an optimist or a pessimist.
When I temporarily mislay my phone, I sometimes experience moments of sheer panic and envisage that it has fallen into the hands of a Nigerian internet fraudster who has instantly proceeded to empty all of my bank accounts and run up huge phone bills.
Incidentally, did anyone else read about the recent case where a guy had his phone stolen and the thief ran up huge international call bills? The phone company insisted that he pay for these calls, even though his phone had been stolen. I don't know how widespread this practice is.

Yeah but that stat up note can cause problems with some third party apps on some machines IIRC.

Re: What security measures do you use on my mobile?
Didn't realise that Owner Details would show on boot up if the p/w was on. I've enabled that now and set password. Also found that you can still sync, by ticking a box, without having to enter the p/w, so that's useful too. Thanks all once again.

I reckon that this is for the paranoic owners !

Guess I'm an optimist then !!

Do you really want to sync without entering the password? This would allow a stranger who gets hold of your phone to sync all your data off it.
I use Pocket Secure, not every time the device switches on, but on soft reset.

I presume that it would only recognize the partneship that it has made - including device name which wouldn't be accessible to a finder ..... but maybe it would.

Re: What security measures do you use on my mobile?
Rick - that's true... but if someone was playing with your device and wiped all your PIM data, it would sync to server and wipe all the data there too (and you'd have to restore from a backup file to get your data back).
So I can understand what Cyclist is saying.

If anyone connects a device to a PC it has not connected to before, and that PC has ActiveSync or WMDC, then the new partnership wizard will run. I think that what happens next depends on whether any existing partnership is with an exchange server or a local machine. Certainly for my device AS will offer to set up another partnership which would enable anyone in possession of my handset to get my data.

Can't see that. If the device is locked, how could they wipe the PIM data, other than hard reset which would wipe server connection details also.
