Exchange account gets deleted when connecting USB

hi, i have exchange 2007 which i sync with my mobile. now sometimes when i am travelling or dont have charge i connect my phone to USB to my laptop to charge it , or ma be to sometimes dump some files i connect it to my laptop, but something strange is happening.

when i connect my TYTN II laptop, and i disconnect after sometime. my exchange account gets deleted. and i have to reconfigure it. its strange.

can someone help me on this.

i too use exchange and occasionally connect to a PC or laptop to transfer files, but I haven't encountered the problems you are suggesting.

When you connect via USB, do you click "Cancel" for a Guest Partnership? Or do you go through which items you would like to sync with the laptop?

It shouldn't cause problems though, as I know my device in the beginning was syncing with exchange and a laptop.

I have seen the same thing when using my Ameo with a WM6 ROM; I have a valid partnership with the PC, but every so often, when I disconnect, the whole Exchange Account goes missing.

Unfortunately, I've no idea why it happens, or even when it's going to happen; last time was about 6 weeks ago, but I've done 2 ROM flashes since then so had to rebuid the Exchange Account anyway

hi , thanks for reply, i think i know the answer. as i was trying for the solution since last 4 hours. and this is what i found.

i had couple of partnerships in my Activesync, [vista , windows mobile device], i ended all of them. and then connected my TYTN II, and charged it for 30 mins. and the take it out of USB, and my exchange is as if, no deletion. so that is a great news. also when i connected again, i choose an option [user device without partnership]. and i am able to explore my memory card, phone drives. and yet no exchange deletion.

but i guess than i would not able able to sync using my laptop, which i am fine, as my exchagne syncs everything for me.

If your laptop is running XP or earlier so that you are using Active Sync and not WMDC, then you can make it always be a guest connection without getting asked.

On the laptop set this in the registry:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
GuestOnly=dword:1

Then every device that connects to the laptop will connect as guest. To make a partnership you would need to change the registry value to 0.

I've tried this and it works for me on XP; I do not know what would happen on a machine using Vista and Windows Mobile Device Centre.
