VPN via WiFi - Possible?
Hi,
I can get VPN working fine via GPRS or HSDPA, but it won't work via WiFi.
Is it possible? Does WM6.1 allow this feature via WiFi? Is it a bug or design feature?
Best regards,
TyTN II.

Re: VPN via WiFi - Possible?
Hi TyTN-II, where are you using the VPN on Wi-Fi, it could be the the Wi-Fi access or a firewall is blocking the VPN protocols over Wi-Fi, but that restriction isn't there on the cellular network.

I've used VPN over WiFi many times without issue.

I haven't used WM6.1, so this may not be pertinent, but is your WiFi connection set up as connecting to Work as opposed to connecting to the internet?
If this is still valid in 6.1, then it may or may not make a difference - worth a try...
Regards,
A.

Re: VPN via WiFi - Possible?
There is that "connect to work/internet" thing again.......
Where do I set that??
There is nothing blocking the connection - it's on my own LAN! It works fine over the network, but when connected to WiFi it doesn't even appear to try to connect????
WM6.0 here - T-Mobile have no plans to release a 6.1 for the unit, so I'm waiting for the end of the contract period before flashing it.
Best regards,
TyTN II.

Re: VPN via WiFi - Possible?
Try:
Start - Settings - Connections tab - Connections - Advanced - Select Networks.
Set the "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:" to the same internet setting as the "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:"

Re: VPN via WiFi - Possible?
Hi,
OK - I see that. I note that I can't add VPN connections to the default "t-mobile" dial-up connection. Do you know the password for the T-Mobile dial-up account? If I set both the "Work" network, the T-Mobile connection disappears, along with the settings.
Best regards,
TyTN II.

Re: VPN via WiFi - Possible?
Hi,
It appears there is a bug in the connections manager! After playing around with the various configs (T-Mobile/Work, Work/Work, Work/T-Mobile, and then finally back to T-Mobile/Work) it works!!!
If there is no connection, it dials one, or uses the wireless if connected!
Very happy!
Best regards,
TyTN II.
