Re: Orbit 2 is NOT launching tomorrow

Not quite sure I follow you there Dave, what happened?
The website is a bit messy, doesn't make the extra cost of Copilot clear if you want it, in fact I'm sure it was missing at first. However for DH I'm looking at a 12 month £28 per month contract, will be the same as your £35 but without data; the 0.5Mb plus £1 per day thing should cover any he uses (he says he'll use it, but I know that'll mean try it twice and give up).

Got a free DECT phone for spending over X amount which we need because Daniel has chewed one of our two DECT handsets to death. Expansys shipping to the IOM is actually very reasonable and fast.
Wish I'd have known that mate as I have 3 full Copilot 7 Live bundles.

1 Review copy - (Which I'm still using)
1 Full release package - (Which ALK sent me after the review for free)
1 O2 XDA Orbit2 copy with all the mounts and stuff.

I'll obviously keep the review copy but will probably look to move the other 2 copies on.

Ahh, bugger. Oh well, I think with the £20 off and the free DECT phone (which I would have to have bought anyway) it probably works out okay.

Waveydavey, Hi

Would be interested to know how much you would be looking for for the full release package.

Ta.

Re: Orbit 2 is NOT launching tomorrow

Went into the local o2 shop sunday afternoon and they had the Orbit 2 on display. Asked them if they had any instock and if they were available to joe public. They said yes to both so I picked up a nice shiny new one on an 18 month contract @ £35pm. Came with a car charger, car holder. CoPilot GPS software, and all the usual charger/headphones/pouch.

Re: Orbit 2 is NOT launching tomorrow

First impressions are good. Got the HTC home screen installed + pocketcm. Runs smoother than I remember my Imate k-jam running. Had to do 2 hard resets when I messed up in the registry but no biggy.

One thing I miss that I did have on the Nokia N95 was the ability to get multimedia files from windows media player on the computer via wireless LAN. I'll have a look around and see if theres anything out there.

Sat Nav maps are a little out of date, they don't have my road on the maps. Will look at the copilot software cd and see if theres an update available but the actual sat nav software itself seems to be good. On par with Tomtom at the moment.

[edit] Oh and a little point about the battery, took it off an over night charge at 6am this morning, been playing with it on and off through out the day and the charge is still reading in the high 60%. Def an improvement on the N95 with its half a day battery life. [/edit]

Re: Orbit 2 is NOT launching tomorrow

Maps always seem out of date unless one uses a more regularly updates system like Google maps. I beleive IIRC that ALK have a map update due in a few months so hopefully that may add your road in - how new is it?

Battery life is completely awesoem for me too - long lasting and plenty of omph left at the end of the day.

If you buy Resco File Explorer, you can connect it to your home Network via WiFi if you have a WiFi router. Not quite as simple as syncing over the air, but you can certainly access public and shared folders on your PC, and copy files to the Storage Card.

CPL's road's are more up to date than TomTom's (though I don't have TT's latest release) but there are quite a few very small country roads missing from CPL's maps.
