Re: Give us your feedback on the new Polaris variants the HTC Touch Cruise and O2 Orb
You need to apply the reg edit given in the first post in the thread for it using Resco Explorer (free trial available) or similar. This will then give you the 6 buttons back.
Quote from thread:-
If you have any problems with the contacts tab not showing, then you will need to remove the registry entry HKLM/Software/OEM/MASD/Quickdial using Resco Explorer or similar.

Re: Give us your feedback on the new Polaris variants the HTC Touch Cruise and O2 Orb
Well, my Touch Cruise has arrived (well done DHL who, having tried to deliver in the morning but found no-one home, popped in again on the way back to HQ late afternoon on the off chance!). It's fully charged and synching as we speak. I'm having a few problems getting used to a device with so few buttons, having come from the MiniS with both a hardware keyboard and lots of hardware keys, but I'm sure I'll adjust. Wish I had more time to get my apps installed but I'll be off to bed soon and then, tomorrow night we've got a major excercise with Civil Defence so no go then either. Looks like it'll have to wait until Thursday night before I can have a proper play.
Nice looking device though. Certainly a lot better looking than in those initial photos released on the Internet when it was first announced.

Now entering the 3rd day of owning the phone. today I'll be looking at how good the built in internet explorer is. I've read a lot of people talking about opera mini so I'll have a look at that.

As well as Opera Mini, Opera do a full blown browser too and its great but costs and is tied to the device ID

Re: Give us your feedback on the new Polaris variants the HTC Touch Cruise and O2 Orb
Opera comes as standard on the HTC Touch Cruise! Not had a chance to use it yet, but it's in there.
Enjoying using the cruise so far today. Not got used to input without a keyboard yet. Been resorting the handwriting with the stylus more often than not. I've installed pcm and I'm beginning to get to grips with it but my error rate is still quite high and on-screen keyboards are just rubbish for correcting mistakes!
Still, I'm looking forward to getting all of my software on there. I'm sure I'll feel a lot more confortable with it then. It's all a little disconcerting at the moment. After two years with the same device I was very much in a groove

I know what you mean about feeling odd with your new device, I feel the same way when I use a Nokia or similar I try and tap the screen when going through the menus!

Re: Give us your feedback on the new Polaris variants the HTC Touch Cruise and O2 Orb
Got to use the GPS in anger for the first time last night, on an excercise into the hills (boy what a hill. Climbed 750ft in half a mile!). Obviously, I haven't even looked at the manual yet so I wasted some time looking for some way to turn on the GPS. Eventually I gave up and just started my mapping sofware, told it my GPS was on com4 and a little orange light started blinking. Bingo!
A little while later I had a decent lock and it all worked beatifully, with no fuss whatsoever.
Even better, after a full day use (7am - 11pm) including lots of playing, a few calls and texts, a bit of listening to music and two hours out with the GPS, my battery still had 69% left. I wish I'd bothered to check the battery before I turned on the GPS to give me some idea of what the extra drain was from that.
