I bet that climb made your legs scream Jim! what gradient was that?

So you are pleased with the new device so far, the GPS is excellent better than any other device's I have tried so far, and I don't miss the hardware keyboard at all. Battery life is excellent for me too. As you might gather this is one device I won't get fed up with in a hurry.

Ouch!

One other thing that might be handy for you is the ability to check your current altitude and heading with Co Pilot.

Ahh, no. I have Memory Map (http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/4wm...emory-map.html (Memory-Map)) for when I'm out walking and I'm finally managing to persuade my Mountain Rescue team to start using it more. That was part of last nights excercise and it's Memory Map that told me we'd gained 763ft in half a mile.

As well as me carrying my Orbit II with Memory Map tracing our route, we were radioing back to base every five mins or so with our current OS grid reference which they were then plotting on a laptop running MM. There were four teams out so they were able to keep a visual of exactly where every team was and track their progress. It's an amazing piece of software.

Then, once we get back to base, we can hook our handheld units into the latptop and upload the exact traces to compare against the info that had been radioed in.

Obviously that works in reverse as well in that they can plot a route on the laptop, upload it to our handhelds and the handhelds then guide us along a search route or to the last known location of a potential casualty.

Yes you have rung a bell now I remember you mentioning that before, so you are getting them to see the sense in using Memory Map now then. Do other rescue organisations use it too, and if not why not!

That's an excellent question. I know of others who use digital mapping and GPS units but I have no idea if it's specifically Memory Map.

That's me had mine for 5 days now, delighted with it. I just wish it had a 'running programmes' in the start menu, I had it on my MDAiii and i'm just used to it being there!
Another small gripe, I miss the extra buttons on the MDA, I used to assign one for Sat Nav and one for the Internet. Apart from that, can't really fault it!!!

Try this HTC Task Manager available here it will open where you usually press X with a list of running apps, and you can choose which to close.

Re: Give us your feedback on the new Polaris variants the HTC Touch Cruise and O2 Orb

well, i'm in the USA and i finally received my Orbit 2 on Monday, 2/18. i had a small issue with CoPilot, but thanks to this site, I quickly resolved the issue and had Copilot up in running in 15 minutes! i used the stock ROM for 2 days to see what other issues i might encounter but there were none.

if i had one complaint it would be the amount of available storage ROM; mine showed 89 MB available after a hard-reset. after loading my standard set of apps and retrieving my emails, i was quickly down to 49 MB. this was a major concern for me; this might not be an issue for some. i reinstalled the apps to the SD card, but performance (when launching the apps) was not as good as when they're on the phone. i could have stayed with this configuration, but i prefer to load my apps on the phone.

soooooooooooo.... i took a risk, flashed HardSPL (Olipro) and installed bepe's .53, WM 6.1 ROM from xda-developers. this ROM had 144 MB total Storage with 140 MB available and 68MB of available Program Memory... i know this was risky, but i've done this before using the xda ROM chiefs' tools. 15 minutes later i had the device flashed and running... loaded my standard set of apps, retrieved my emails and i still had 90 MB of Storage Space. I was a little concerned that Copilot might not work, but it installed without issue. i've been using this setup for 24 hours and the only issue i've encountered is Resco Keyboard and PCM Keyboard not working with the 9.3 beta version of Opera. i have the same issues with my WM 6.1 enabled Sprint Touch. i can live with this. the keyboards work everywhere else. as one would expect with a "trimmed" ROM, response to keystrokes is much faster compared to the stock O2 ROM.

it's nice knowing that i have a very unique phone relative to what's offered in the US. bottom line, i'm happy with my new toy! what will it take to make me go to the next new toy????

Nice work Cortez, there can't be many Orbit 2's in the States! I have been following Bepes rom and it does look good, did you install the Arcsoft cab file to fix the missing MMS or isn't that a problem to you?

So how are you finding Co Pilot.
