There have been numerous reports about some TyTnII's always connecting to download emails, regardless of whether the setting was for manual or automatic. Maybe some Touch Cruise models are similarly afflicted?

This seems to happen once, in the early morning, before reverting to the correct behaviour, so maybe you should just let it do what it wants; if your emaial was synced the previous day, there shouldn't be too much to download (I presume !)
