Orbit 2 Calendar all day appointment alerts

On my Orbit 2 and other iPAQ PDAs I enter birthday reminders as all day events with an alert set to 15 minutes. Last night at 11:45 pm my Orbit alerted me to remember a friends birthday that was the next day. This morning my other PDAs alerted me at 07:45am, a much more civilised time to do it!

I cannot find any settings that are different on the Orbit 2 and I would welcome any pointers to changing some settings so I will not be woken up at 11:45pm when the next birthday comes.

Re: Orbit 2 Calendar all day appointment alerts

It does this to me with all day appointments when I don't think about it.... For an all-day appointment, I believe it sets the time to 00:00, making a 15minute alert 11:45PM, I always get caught out by it....

I've not looked into a solution yet, apart from setting the alert to 12 hours so I get alerted the day before, but I'm sure someone will be along soon with one!

Re: Orbit 2 Calendar all day appointment alerts

My old PDAs are pre Windows Mobile 6 and give the civilised 07:75am warning. I have noticed that in Calendar the hours of a day are shaded differently for times before 0800 and from 1700 onwards, which could be a "normal" working day. So it would appear that my old systems warn me relative to the start of the working day rather than 0000 hours. The same shading is shown on the WM6 calendar though.

All devices are synchronised using Outlook on my PC so why they are different is a real puzzle.

Re: Orbit 2 Calendar all day appointment alerts

I would say it must be something within the way WM6 manages the appointments then. I'll take a look later on!!

Re: Orbit 2 Calendar all day appointment alerts

Did anyone manage to sort this issue to stop all day appointments from alarming just before midnight and get them to default to 07:45?

Dash,

I'll have a look into this later this afternoon.

I suspect it's Outlook on the PC where you need to change it....

Re: Orbit 2 Calendar all day appointment alerts

I can't see anything in the Calendar options within Outlook, I guess we'll have to manually correct reminders when creating all day appointments.

Re: Orbit 2 Calendar all day appointment alerts

I'll admit to not knowing much about how Outlook users the registry. What I have noticed is that if I create a new al day event, the default reminder is set to 18hours, even though the default reminder is 15mins in the options.

Re: Orbit 2 Calendar all day appointment alerts

i've always had this prob - it's outlook that is at issue (well, for me anyway).

so i sync over to outlook then edit the appointments.

need to find a nice utility for outlook to change ALL all-day-appointments reminder times... i'm still looking
