My Music Folder

I have copied some MP3's onto my memory card.

Anyone know where I can change the file path so that this becomes my default location?

TIA.

Re: My Music Folder

hi thought id make my first post usefull.....
Essentially the same way you would move my docs folder in vista

step by step
connect to pc and browse to contents of phone and get 2 windows open ... phone and storage

now create a folder on storage called ???? your choice lets say "my docs" for example

now open my docs

across to the other window lets say you want to move my ringtones and my music

1/highlight them both

2/ RIGHT click and hold on one of them

3/ Drag and drop into my docs on storage

4/ you will get asked "do you want to copy or move"

5/Choose MOVE this is essential
6/ close connection on pc then reboot phone

viola job done

ie if you were to now dump mp3s into my ringtones folder which are now on the storage device
when you go to
>start >settings > phone .......the drop down list of tones will show those mp3s even though they are on the storage card and not the phone memory

hope that helps

Re: My Music Folder

Welcome to 4WM Glen, and thanks for the useful answer. Be interesting to see if it works for Mobli.
I have my music on my storage card in a folder named Music. The HTC audio manager (the one started from Touch Flo) picks up my tracks immediately. However in Windows Media Player I have to do a refresh of the library to see them.

Re: My Music Folder

I think that's because HTC audio manager does a refresh every time it starts.

By default WMP can see the SD card files but you have to select SD card and then ask it to update the library for the tracks to be present in the default playlist.

Re: My Music Folder

And it's irrelevant to me, because I use Mort Player for spoken word audio, and 40iPlay for music. Mort Player has better bookmarking, and 40iPlay has much better sound reproduction than either of the built in apps, and there's lots of lovely space to put them in.

Exactly what I ended up doing.

I was expecting to edit a pathname which is why I initially overlooked the Library feature.

Quite simple and meets my needs - just need to go into my library now which is pointing to my memory card.

I must say, you really can't tell the difference between data being accessed on the memory card or on the device itself which was one of my initial concerns.

I can see this device keeping me busy for a few weeks yet in terms of playing around with it and customisation. Happy Days

It's like decorating your house you get one bit right and then move on to the next. Then when everything is right you decide to change the first bit again......

Re: My Music Folder

Or someone has come up with some interesting new thing to try in the meantime. I'm playing with Ultimate Launcher at the moment. To be honest all it offers more than what I used to have is gestures, but it's fun to find out how to get it to do what I want.
