Re: Safety Camera alert on CoPilot
No. Other than with some ROM upgrades you shouldn't need to change the device code at all.

Re: Safety Camera alert on CoPilot
As WaveyDavey mentions, I've heard occasions where a ROM upgrade has changed the device ID but I've nver been afflicted by it on any of my devices and I'm a ROM pervert - I'm flashing all the time!
A hard reset will NOT change the device ID....

Re: Safety Camera alert on CoPilot
I had a similar problem i found out the other day whereby after a reset my safety camera alerts dissappeared. I tried adding the file from ALK website but this would just keep crashing my CoPilot.
So what i did next was re-installed the Copilot software direct from the CoPilot CD that was provided in the pack via the USB. This removed the existing software on my device and then re-installed everything, after that was done i then added the Safety Camera file as per the instructions on ALK website. This then integrated the updates and all worked fine. I now have safety camera alerts as before.
cheers

Re: Safety Camera alert on CoPilot
Having used CoPilot on my Orbit 2 a few times now I'm warming to it (previously used TTN6 on an MDA Compact 3)
1 small irritation - instead of "Attention Safety Camera" being blurrted out by Emily can I have just a beep as was possible in TTN?
Otherwise very accurate, easy to use, and I like the free camera alerts.
Incidentally I was connected over WIFI at time of activation so even though I got an email from ALK I have never had to use it
Thx in advance

I never got a CoPilot CD with mine, did anyone else? I ditched CP7 for TomTom6 because of CP7's problems with safety cams. If I could install another version from a CD I may be tempted to re-try it!

Re: Safety Camera alert on CoPilot
You won't have got a cd as the copilot installation is stored in the ROM.

Re: Safety Camera alert on CoPilot
You should have the companion CD with CPL Central on it, from which you can recreate the maps.

Re: Safety Camera alert on CoPilot
Neither did I but the commercial release has them, or so I'm told.

Re: Safety Camera alert on CoPilot
Wasn't that down to the debacle whereas you could buy an Orbit 2 without Co-Pilot but get it anyway, or ask for it and get it twice?
