USB Connector

Hi folks, bit of a weird one.....when I put the USB connector into the bottom of my phone, I can move it quite freely from left to right! The connection seems to be solid enough although I just wonder if this may pose problems in the future. Anyone else's doing the same?

Re: USB Connector

Hi Damian,

Is this with the supplied lead or a generic USB lead?

My O2 version arrived today and my generic USB lead is very tight on insertion but is loose on my original Orbit.

Does it sync successfully? No issues in it not being recognised or failing to sync?

Re: USB Connector

Thanks Tony, I'm using the supplied lead.... The connection seems very tight although I can actually move it when its connected. Hard to explain, it's as if the connector inside the phone isn't very secure although the cable fits inside it fine!

Re: USB Connector

Mine's the same! It is definitely a tight fit on insertion but once in there is a little give.

It might be a design detail to avoid breakage if the USB cable is accidentally caught or something similar? I don't have any issues in establishing or maintaining a connection though so I am happy with it.

I'll keep an eye on it but I'm not particularly worried by it.

Re: USB Connector

Phew, glad it's not only mine! I'm still using my phone cradle from my MDAiii, the connector on the cradle is literally a millimetre out, and through various attempts, I've managed to make it fit now. I thought I may have loosened it that way!.

Re: USB Connector

That could be the reason why it's loose ~ maybe it's a design feature ~ to allow fit-up with the connector in a cradle without damage to the contacts
