Hopeless
Currently I have had to set Locks to come on after 1 minute with a 4 digit PIN. In this state only the hard keys work to answer a call , and for anything else you need the PIN.
This would be fairly usable if the backlight came on at the set % momentarily when doing entry (so you could have a quick look at the notifications /signal status) Instead it comes on as this poster observes at about 10% brightness which is crazy and unusable. (assume it saves power while rattling around in a case)
How are people working around this choice of unsatisfactory options. note I want a lock that requires definite hardware key action to answer a call - not a whizbang screensaver that still auto activates the touch screen when the phone rings
Thanks for any advice !

I think you are right. This dimmed screen during lock must surely save power whilst the device is being bumped in pockets, as you say.
I appreciate your point about accidentaly answering / loosing a call, but i dont have this problem as my Orbit is in a fairly stiff Piel Frama case, so this never happens to me.
I once had (still have) a Sony Walkman mp3 player (HD-5) which had a "Hold" switch to prevent buttons being pushed whilst in pockets etc - only problem was that if you DID push a switch, the screen lit up to full brightness and flashed "HOLD" for about 10 seconds - so it was entirely possible to drain the battery whilst it was in your sports bag......
Your final point about being able to set the wake-up screen brightness % is very salient and would indeed be a very usefull function which would cure the problem - i think i might have a non-intrusive poke around the registry and see what i can spot that looks hopefull.
