Got few Orbit 2 issues anyone else had same?

Hi All

I am new to this forum and have just got my new Orbit 2 and been playing with it for a while however i have 3 possible issues which i am not sure if others have the same issues or whether it is just my handset. Hoping someone can help advise.

1) Each time i change the phones profile say from Normal/Loud to Silent/Meeting the Sound Icon (like a loud speaker) at the top of the screen doesn't seem to change and phone seems to remain as if it is set to normal/loud, though when i touch the Sound icon after the large bubble shows the icon as either in Silent or Vibrate mode (depending on the profile) and indeed when a call comes in it is actually in Silent or Vibrate mode but not the case when getting a message. This only seems to happen when changing to the Silent or Meeting Profile, all indications are phone profile not changed but when getting a call it has but not the case when getting messages, does anyone else have this problem?

2) Sometimes when i switch on my phone in the morning the Co-Pilot icon is not on the today screen even though it is selected in the Today settings, and i have to go into the Today settings unselect Co-Pilot and then reselect it for it to re-appear on the Today screen. This does not happen everytime however, when i switch on the phone, seems to happen a few times and can't figure it out........again happen to anyone?

3) Last one when on a call with someone i find that after i have hung up the phone, my handset is either showing the Startup menu or is in appointments or some other application. It seems that when the phone is against my ear during the call, the various applications are launched from possible contact with my ear (didn't know they were shaped as a stylus ), has anyone else had this when on call and if so is there anyway to auto-lock the screen whilst in a call?

Hope someone can tell me if they find similar issues with their phone so at least i know whether its my phone or these are just common things. Thanks alot.

Hi PavB and welcome to 4WM!

1) Do you have some sort of profile controlling application loaded? It sounds like something else is controlling your profiles. What apps have you got installed?

2) By the same token as above this could be something in your today screen messing around with the order. What plugins have you activated?

3) This happens to me too, I've just stopped pressing the device against my ear or using a headset when I'm out and about.

Re: Got few Orbit 2 issues anyone else had same?

1) Dont know

2) i have had this with both Orbit 1 and Orbit 2, when i have selected an app as the first / top item on the today screen - sometimes it doesnt appear and you have to go into Today settings then uncheck and re-check it to make it refresh and appear.

3) same again with both Orbits - hold it slightly away from your ear and it wont happen - also the call will sound much louder and clearer if you hold the Orbit a few millimetres away from your ear - and also you wont get the greasy ear gunk on your screen...

1) Yes, good description, I see exactly the same thing. Definitely no other profile apps installed since my last hard reset.

2) Next time this happens investigate your registry. There was a bug in older versions of Wm where 2 plug-ins got assigned the same Screen position, which produced those symptoms.

3) Never found that a problem.

3. as soon as i connect on a call, i give the power button a short/quick press to turn off the touch screen. that way, i never "activate" anything when my face touches the screen. a quick press while on a call will reactivate the screen. pressing the end key will end the call and re-activate (or turn on) the screen.

Smile Re: Got few Orbit 2 issues anyone else had same?

Thanks Guys for quick response.

Regards issue 1 i have nothing additional installed and like i say it seems to only happen when changing the Profile of the phone from Normal/Loud/Outdoor to either Silent or Meeting. Definately added nothing to the phone since i got it and the Icon never seems to change to Silent or Vibrate Icon unless i physically go into the Volume control and change it to Off or Vibrate then the icon changes. If you guys not sure what i mean by this, try this, click on the Profile setting on the today screen - then select either Meeting or Silent as your new Profile, hit done and see if the small Sound Icon at top of the screen changes from a On icon to a Vibrate or a Off icon, if it does then my phone has the problem. If doesn't change then just click the Icon on top of the screen to bring up the big bubble and see what icon you get then, does it show a Vibrate or Off icon (dependant on which profile you chose earlier). I think Cyclist has same issue.... hopefully makes a bit more sense just hard to describe it, can be annoying as i cannot then easily put phone into silent or vibrate mode as texts still play sounds.

Issue 2 I will have a look at this again as it seems to be ok last few times i switched on my phone

Issue 3 agree with cortez have to press the power button which i guess is ok providing i always remember when i get a call

By the way just noticed something else wonder if you guys had similar issue. When i am in Co-Pilot i can use the navigation control to move through options, however pressing the Enter button seems to do nothing, the user manual even states that you can use the Navigation control and enter button to access menus. The Enter button works fine on every other application just not Co-Pilot and i have to tap the screen with my finger, nothing major i guess but wondering if anyone else experiences this?

Thanks again for your responses.

Re: Got few Orbit 2 issues anyone else had same?

Anyone had a chance to see if their Enter button works during Co-Pilot?
My Navigation control all works fine in Co-Pilot but the round enter button is unresponsive and it is only in Co-Pilot i have this issue. User manual says that these keys can be used in Co-Pilot so not sure why Enter don;t work. Not sure if its something on my handset or a common problem?

Cheers

No, the action button inside the dpad does not select in Copilot for me either.

thanks waveydavey, i guess must just be a software issue then when in CoPilot, strange how the rest of the dpad works though. Oh well thanks for checking mate.
