Pre Sales Questions
Looking at picking up an O2 XDA Orbit 2 and just wanted to confirm a couple of points:
- The UK O2 version from O2 UK Retail Stores are they unlocked to all Networks as I would also want to use the Orbit 2 with a CytaVoda SIM Card whilst in Cyprus. Plus use my T-Mobile SIm until the contract runs out next month for Web n Walk
- Can I synch with Lotus Notes 7? I am guessing by using XTND Connect PC.
Looking at moving back to Windows CE after moving to an S60 Nokia from a MDA Vario II 18 months ago.
Thks

Re: Pre Sales Questions
Hi Stevie, welcome to 4WM.
I bought an O2 Orbit and am using it happily with my TMobile UK SIM (husband got the O2 SIM with more expensive data).
Hope someone else will be along to give you an answer on Lotus Notes. Might help if you told us whether you are using Vista with WMDC or an earlier version of Windows and Active Sync.

Re: Pre Sales Questions
Thx Cyclist,
Looks like I'll be picking one up then.
Run Vista 64 on Home PC & XP Pro on Works Laptop so either or. I think from previous use XTND Connect PC will do it, not as easy as Outlook.
Current deal I have on the table for an O2 XDA Orbit 2 is:
12 Mth Contract 400Mins & 500Txts £35/Mth Free Handset & £30 Trade in for any old Phone & Charger. Is this a good deal or could I do better. It's the Co-Pilot 7 Version one as well.
Finally I notice O2 Stores do the Silver fronted Orbit 2 where as CPW are doing an all black version. Yet to see either in the flesh what's the preference silver or black and do they attract finger prints easily. Was favouring the all black but now the silver as the all black looks a bit too black IYSWIM.
Thx

Re: Pre Sales Questions
As far as I know, they are all the same colour! The Black or Silver front bezel is a trick of the light in the photos- it is actually a dark gray, but highly mirrored finish, with the shiny screen top layer overlaid onto it.
Your contract looks quite good for a new contract, especially with the CPL package. You might try and negotiate a bit to add the Data bilt-on which costs £7.50 per month. This is 'unlimited' but O2 don't allow VOIP, Streaming or Instant Messaging in the plan.

Re: Pre Sales Questions
Look at the online business tariffs as well. I was a new O2 customer and the business tariff deal was better for me. Be prepared to have a 'letterhead' available, 2 minutes with Word and a printer will produce something they'll accept.

Re: Pre Sales Questions
Well picked one up this afternoon, first impression was I couldn't believe how light it is and the flush screen. It is unlocked tried my CytaVoda & T-Mobile SIM's both work fine.
Letting it charge before starting to load apps. Have to dig out all my old apps and games and see what the latest versions are, should keep me busy tomorrow.

Re: Pre Sales Questions
Thanks, Changed the deal on the day.
Ended up going for an 18 Month Contract with 600 Mins, 500 Texts and free Internet Data Browsing, handset with Co-Pilot was free & got £30 trade in for an old Nokia 3510i. All for £35 a Month.
Well pleased with the deal even got to chose my own Mobile Number. Also didn't realise you got a 1GB MicroSD Card and Car Holder & Charger for SatNav use.
Just spent a good part of the day loading Apps, amazed at how the registration details for I would say 90% of my Apps from nearly 2 years ago work with the latest versions of the S/W.
Only had to buy updates for Pocket Informant & eWallet to date and got big discounts on that having had an old version.
