O2 Orbit 2 Confusion

I shall be upgrading to an Orbit 2 shortly and have been reading the various posts & reviews with great interest.

One thing I am a bit confused about is the range of "user screens" available.

I have read about the HTC Home Plug in & SPb Mobile Shell. Is there any major benefits to these compared to O2's built in Touch Flow. Looks to me like the HTC Home plug in is similar to the Trouch Flow but with a clock on the main screen.

So are O2 Orbit users using Touch Flow & one of the above??

Perhaps this will all come clear when I get my hands on my Orbit 2, but just interested...

Re: O2 Orbit 2 Confusion

Hi Andy-D,

Orbit2 from O2 comes with the HTC Cube application (Touch Flow) but NOT the HTC Home (Clock+weather etc.) application. The latter can be found in our downloads section if you want it.

There are many Home screen variations and it's really a matter of personal preferences here! I don't use either HTC Home or HTC Cube but prefer SBSH's iLauncher and PocketBreeze combo. Others are sworn to Spb, others to Wisbar's offerings.

Thing to do is to try a few as I think all have trial periods and see which ones you prefer.

Definitely an individual choice. I like Ultimate Launcher for lots of app launchers - see this thread (Ultimate Launcher with Today Agenda and Samsung Clock).

Re: O2 Orbit 2 Confusion

Totally agree, my current faves are Spb Mobile Shell & Spb Pocket Plus v4.... I say current as I tend to be a bit on the fickle side as regards to application. The best advice is already here, download the trials and give them a go...

Re: O2 Orbit 2 Confusion

Personally, after lots of experimentation, i have settled on using Pocket Plus on the Today screen to give a tabbed layout, with Pocket Breeze occupying one of those tabs. The only other items i have on the Today screen is "Last Call" and "Device Lock", so that they are always visible.

This gives me all the info i need at a glance and the big icons in Pocket Plus means i can use fingers instead of stylus for 95%+ of the time.

Pocket Plus can have 6 large tabs across the screen and laid out the way i have it, I have rapid, finger friendly, large icon access for upto 60 applications / functions / links plus Pocket Breeze Diary / PIM with my upcoming apointments is only 1 finger stab away at all times

Hopefully, if i have done this right, there will be attached 2 screen shots of my Orbit 2

Re: O2 Orbit 2 Confusion

Good choice Michael! (Mine as well of course), though I use SpB Diary embedded in PP4, rather than Breeze) I also have the Pocket Music today plug-in in the 'Entertainment' tab, and SpB Backup plug-in in the 'Utilities' tab.
