Official HTC Hot fix for Touch Cruise photo quality issue
Hot fix for Touch Cruise photo quality issue
If you zoom in on a captured photo and notice grainy, maze-like patterns within the image itself (this problem is caused by too much sharpness enhancement being applied in bright-light environments), please download and install this hot fix to solve the problem. Sharpness parameters within the photo will then be reduced with only a minimal loss of image sharpness.
Installation instructions
Follow the instructions below to successfully download and install the hot fix on your device:- Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync® installed on your Windows XP PC or Windows Mobile Device Center on your Windows Vista® PC. You can download Microsoft ActiveSync from this link or Windows Mobile Device Center from this link.
- Connect and synchronize your device with your PC via Microsoft ActiveSync® or Windows Mobile Device Center using a USB cable.
- To download the hot fix, select the check box at the bottom of the screen, select the hot fix and your desired FTP site, and then click the Download button.
- Copy the hot fix, which is a cab file, onto your device.
To install the hot fix, tap the cab file on your device and follow the on-screen instructions.

The link is now working for me, it does get busy at times you just need to retry.

Re: Official HTC Hot fix for Touch Cruise photo quality issue
There is another hotfix which sorts out the blur of the images.
Noticed how it takes forever in low light for it to focus and then take an image? Its because the HTC phones apply a light filter to video and photos taken.
If you turn the light filter off it makes the htc phone perform nearly as well as it should.
- Put your finger over the lens and then press the power button to put the phone into sleep mode
- wait 5 secs and then press the power button to take it out of sleep mode.
The only thing is that the colour temp of the images isnt calculated automatically. Ive not tested to see if you can set it manually.... ive just made do with the blue temperature.

Re: Official HTC Hot fix for Touch Cruise photo quality issue
My main phone is an XDA Orbit II but have a Touch Diamond to play with too.
I should add that there is no way of automating or making permanent the fix I posted previous to this post. You have to perform that trick every time you want to use your camera.
Thanks for the welcome!
