Yet More help needed!
Hi all,
my Orbit 2 has all of a sudden started to make the long key noices when dialing a telephone number, when in the dialing screen I have tried options key sound, off works ok but short & long are both the same "long".
I have tried a soft reset but no joy, HTC said ring O2 as they may have a fix as I'm not the first, O2 dont know about the glitch so don't have a fix.
Any ideas??
I can not live with it making this awful noice!!
Thanks
Mark

Re: Yet More help needed!
Sorry Marky, I don't quite understand what yo mean by 'long key noises', can you explain?
Hate to say this, but you may need to do a hard reset to get rid of this if it is a software problem. Get a backup program and take a backup before doing the hard reset, in case it turns out you have faulty hardware, in which case you could restore the backup to a replacement device.

Re: Yet More help needed!
Good Morning Cyclist,
Sorry, let me try and discribe the problem a little better,
When I first had my Orbit2 and wanted to dial a number, I just pushed the send button which brought up the dial key pad, when I tapped on a number the hanset just made the gentle "click" sound, the same as you have the tap noice turned on and type a text, now it makes the touch tones, and I cant set it back to the "taps".
HTC say it should be able to just click but something is wrong .
The other thing the Orbit is doing is not loading the Icons like battery, memory and co pilot in about 1 in 2 start ups, any ideas??
Thanks
Mark

Re: Yet More help needed!
I don't like the sound of that not loading icons, could be an out of memory problem. When you can see memory, what amounts of free memory do you have?
Try powering off, take out your memory card, then power on again. How does the device behave now? I'm wondering if the device is having difficulty accessing the card on start up.
Other than that, I still think this sounds like a hard reset job. But please if anyone else has suggestions for Marky, do contribute. I haven't seen these problems myself so my answers are educated guesses.

Re: Yet More help needed!
Have you tried installing the HTC dialler over the top , this will hopefully reset all back to normal . Not sure if I am allowed to upload it here for you ?Mods please advise.
The icons thing sounds iffy to me . Have you deleted accidentally anything from within the windows directory that you are aware of using a third party explorer ?

NO I have not added or deleted any files or apps what so ever, sometimes when I turn it on I get the Memory & power icons together with the Co pilot icon, and other times I don't, its so random!
The only way to get them back is to go to the setting menu, then exit it and they then slowly appear, how very strange!
HTC have said that they know that a large batch of memory cards with the CO-PILOT software on them are corrupt, O2 have been sent a different make so they can replace anyones who are acting up!
Maybe this has something to do with it?
Regards
Marky

Re: Yet More help needed!
In that case it should work ok without the card installed, have you tried that? I can't see the card affecting it but you never know!
