Orbit 2 Bluetooth Car Connection

Hi All,

I doubt anyone will have an answer to this but thought I'd ask just in case.

I have a Freelander 2 which has internal Bluetooth for phone connection allowing hands free use through the stereo and steering wheel controls. Anyway I got the Orbit 2 connected o.k. and all seemed fine. Could browse the phonebook on the stereo screen, make and receive calls along with all other functionality. Great I thought! However after disconnecting and then reconnecting, although the phone pairs, the sound is not transferred from the phone to the car. All other functions work fine but the sound stays with the phone and is not transferred to the car. To get it working again the only way appears to be to delete the pairing and start again.

It happens everytime I disconnect and reconnect. Needless to say it's rather inconvenient to have to pair the phone each time I want to use it in the car.

Anyone know why this might be happening, whether there might be anything I can try and if anyone else has experienced similar problems.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Orbit 2 Bluetooth Car Connection

Several car manufacturers use non-standard handsfree profiles that work fine with Nokias (becase they are Nokia extensions) and some other phones, but the extra extensions have never been implemented by Microsoft within their bluetooth stack. Are you definitely using handsfree and not headset profile?

If so, try the headset profile anyway. You won't get the address book stuff but the sound may work better.

Re: Orbit 2 Bluetooth Car Connection

Thanks Bassey.

Useful background information. I wasn't aware of that. I do find it odd that there can be non standard Bluetooth standards. I thought the whole point of BT was to ensure a common standard across devices!

There doesn't seem to be an option to select any other profile except 'Hands Free'. A headset option isn't available.
