Re: call waiting
Is your orbit on O2? I couldnt find the call waiting settings and have been meaning to ring O2 for some time.
If its not a standard setting, does anyone know if SpB's phone suite provides a call waiting facility?

Re: call waiting
Hi, go to phone>menu>settings>services and you can find it there.

Re: call waiting
hi boz
i have call waiting set up as such, the settings say its set to `inform me` but the problem is that it only seems to ring once and at a very low volume, what i basically need is for a call waiting to signal my phone until i answer it or they hang up. i hope i`ve made that clear (as mud probably)
cheers

Re: call waiting
I may be completely wrong here but I always thought the call-waiting signal was something the telecoms company handled. The phone doesn't know another call is coming in over GSM as it can only handle one at a time. Your telecoms provider detects another incoming call and overlays a signal onto the audio-stream to tell you.
At least, that's how I always believed it worked. I'd be interested to hear from others who would know more about this than I do.

Re: call waiting
As I understand it the first call is processed by the main routing switch in mobile operator's network and if a second call comes through it passes ring tone back to the caller and a bleep into the audio stream to alert the user. You can reject the call, hold current and accept the new or disconnect current and accept new. All handling is done by the core switching equipment.

Re: call waiting
i thought that is only true if the network operator supports call waiting (i didn't think they all did).
and this will also change if the customer has a two-lines from the network - i.e. they support conference calling.

Re: call waiting
Possibly, but my point is that the answer to the original question (is there anything I can change on my device to get the Call Waiting alert to be louder and more persistent) is no, you need to contact your network provider because it's probably them that control it.

Re: call waiting
Most of the major telco's support call waiting... I wasn't aware that anyone didn't support it any longer... The only control over call waiting that the end user has is whether or not they want to be notified... In WM devices, that setting is located where Boz has already mentioned it... The call waiting alert, as you all probably already know, doesn't sound for each ring, but more likely once for every three rings that the caller hears... So, my suggestion would be to check the number of rings before the call goes to voicemail and increase that to maybe 6 or 7... This would allow for another notification prior to the call being missed... As for the volume, there is not a direct control over how loud it is...
Personally, I would like to hear at least two notifying beeps, before missing the call... Hope this helps...
