"incorrect network key"

please help!!!!

I have two XDA Orbit 2's - one I purchased in Feb'08 which I CAN/DO connect to my company's wireless network, and one I bought this week which I CAN'T! [error message: "The network key is incorrect. Enter the correct key and tap Connect."]

I am using the same access key on both devices. Our NETGEAR Wireless routers (we have two) both act as DHCP servers. my Feb'08 Orbit can connect to both whilst the May'08 device connects to neither!

I have even removed previous settings from the Feb'08 orbit and re-entered them - and it connects fine again!

any suggestions gratefully received

Re: "incorrect network key"

can the "faulty" orbit connect to WiFi anywhere else, and just not to this router?

Re: "incorrect network key"

also check the settings for wifi...

Start> Settings> Connections> Comm Manager
Settings> Wireless LAN
Power Mode
Move slider all the way to the LEFT (Best Performance)

Re: "incorrect network key"

if no one else has any other suggestions, i'd seriously consider getting the new orbit swapped as faulty (under warranty?) if it is new.

Re: "incorrect network key"

ok - another suggestion could be to try using a backup tool to copy the old orbit 2 backup and restore it to the new one? Copies of Sprite Backup were received with your device I believe?

If this doesn't work for your new Orbit - you can always hard reset and try again...

Re: "incorrect network key"

Let's forego the network key issue for a moment... Can the 'faulty' device connect to any open hotspot.. Sometimes, the device has to be specified on a router, by mac address, to be allowed to connect... Everything seems like it's working, but will then fail with an almost obscure error message.... The key could be failing because the device is not allowed on the wireless network... Especially if it has happened with more than one device...
