Bluetooth functionality

I am looking at various BT stereo headsets. I know I need to support A2DP for stereo audio (which the Orbit II does), but in order to be able to control playback, volume etc, AVRCP is also required. Anyone know if the Orbit II supports this?

Also, some devices are BT 1.2 and others BT 2 (as is the Orbit II), what would be the advantages of one over the other?

What stereo BT headsets are others using?

Re: Bluetooth functionality

I'm no expert on this, but I believe the following to be true;

The Orbit II does support controling the music playback via buttons on stereo headsets. I know lots of people who use this.

Bluetooth 2 is required to support stereo music streaming, so all bluetooth music headphones should be bluetooth II

Whilst I know of one mod who uses a set of Nokia headphones, most are using the Motorola S9's and are delighted with them. The s9's are in-ear style with a neck-band around the back. The nokias (can't remember the model) are over the ear with a head-band - my personal preference.

Re: Bluetooth functionality

All the current WM devices which support A2DP also support AVRCP.

Many of my moderator colleagues, and others on 4WM are using the Motorola S9's and are reporting excellent performance.

Re: Bluetooth functionality

Yep, no worries here with my Motorola S9's, excellent stereo playback and no problems at all.

Both BT 1.2 headsets I've used have dropouts in playback, whereas the BT 2 ones don't.

I like over the ear headsets, so I'm using the Nokia BH 503. It's larger and heavier than the S9s, but the shape is more comfortable for me. Music reproduction quality is good, not quite as good as the wired Sennheiser PX100s though. Phone call quality seems fine too. There's a useful review of them here.
