Re: "The SIM card is missing" - problem
Well, so far so good, a quick call to the returns line has a replacement phone arriving by courier tomorrow, swap on the doorstep. I think that's great service. After being let down recently by Orange and being almost forced to move networks I was a little nervous of how long this would take to resolve.
If anyone has had a phone swapped, any advice on whether they deliver a completely new pack, or whether any items will not be delivered? O2 said pack everything up but keep the SIM and SD card... so I assume I'll get a new mount and car power supply as well as the new phone, or should I keep those too?

Re: "The SIM card is missing" - problem
Hmm, things I've heard recently suggest it will be just the phone, battery and stylus. I'd be careful about giving them the car mount etc. before you've seen the box and checked the contents.

Agreed. Latest email from them says:
"If you are exchanging your product please package your handset, battery and charger ready for the courier to swap for your replacement model."

Re: "The SIM card is missing" - problem
I've had 4 replacements of my Orbit 2 (!). Each time it is handset, battery and stylus. If the courier has a small package just big enough for those 3 items, you are getting a refurbished one, in which case my advice is check it out very thoroughly, since 2 of mine were faulty on delivery. If the courier has the big retail package, the you are getting a new one. The courier is still supposed to only swap those items though.

Re: "The SIM card is missing" - problem
As this is a DOA it ought to be a full new package, not a refurb.
After 30 days they can send a refurb, so check carefully

Re: "The SIM card is missing" - problem
Yes, it's a DOA, they didn't really show any interest in what the problem might be, just that it was 48 hours old! TBH I'm expecting a full retail pack , but have only packed up the phone, battery and charger as per their email... we shall see what happens. O2 have just confirmed del for tomorrow.
Cyclist - it sounds like bad luck, or are the Orbit 2's a bit fragile? TBH I didn't pick up on any fragility when, er, 'researching' the Orbit 2 online.
Was there any pattern to your failures (other than the two DOAs you had)?

Re: "The SIM card is missing" - problem
First one worked for 3-4 months, touch screen died.
Replacement was out of a full retail pack. Worked for 3.5 weeks, then USB socket stopped working with headset.
Replacement for that was a refurb, couldn't get a decent signal.
Replacement for that was a refurb, on-off switch didn't work.
And today's replacement was a full retail pack, with all the bits.

Re: "The SIM card is missing" - problem
DPD have just delivered a full retail box to me and happily taken away just the phone, charger and battery.
I included a copy of the email from O2 which asked only for those items, so hopefully all will be well... However, like Cyclist, I'll be keeping the other bits safe for a couple of weeks just in case.
Right, where's my SPD Mobile Shell..? happy days!

Re: "The SIM card is missing" - problem
That's very good that you got the full retail package. So, we can expect to see a car mount etc. on eBay in a fortnights time then?
