Removing unwanted icons

Hi,

Can someone advise me on how to remove unwanted battery and comms manager icons which have appeared next to the o2 quick menu?

I managed to remove the quick menu icon by removing the application from the startup folder but can't remove the other icons.

I have put a red box around where the offending icons appear (see below).

Thanks.

Re: Removing unwanted icons

Hi Squire,

Have you used a registry editor on your device?
If so you could try the following *** at your own risk!! ***

The bottom tray icons can be removed by making the following registry changes... (AT YOUR OWN RISK)

1. To remove the Battery Icon:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000000

2. To remove the Wireless Manager Icon:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
Change the value of "KEEP" to 0 (zero)

3. Turn off power - wait 30 secs then SOFT RESET.

=========================================
If you don't want to play with the registry, you could try an app like SCHAP'S ADVANCED CONFIG TOOL

Re: Removing unwanted icons

The easiest way is to not let the extended ROM install!

Hard reset the device and wait until the ROM has loaded, and then soft reset before the countdown for the extended ROM installation starts.

That's true Boz, but then you've got to input your data settings etc.

Re: Removing unwanted icons

Solved the problem!

I edited the registry location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ HTC/ Trayapplet to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ HTC/ Trayappletx

which has removed the icons.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
