Disappointing HTC Diamond 2
Well, at the beginning I thought the Diamond 2 would be a marvellous gimmick to have, but after having paid nearly 700 Euros (in South America, Europe only 420E) I found, after only a few days of use, that I had been fooled .
First, the battery is very, very weak and runs down in less than 1 hour using certain applications such as the GPS or Skype. Besides this it has certain functions that switch on the screen and it stays on automatically while the unit is generally configured to automatically switch off after a minute. But this does not work on all functions. Thus, without realizing it, you are suddenly, without battery charge in the middle of the street (without having used anything at all). There is not even a lock all buttons function like in any cheap and simple cellphone (to prevent accidental calls or “On time”).
Thus the device easily switches on without noticing inside your pocket.
On top of that the battery also heats up whenever 2 or 3 functions are running at the same time (enough to fry an egg on it or simply burn your hand). Often the system hangs completely (no button works anymore , and you can't shut down or restart the diamond 2 at all) The worst is that this sometimes leaves the screen black and you simply imagine that the battery went down. But instead the device keeps on running stuck programs, heating up more and more till it even starts smelling burnt. If you are lucky, you notice this and take out the battery (which of course is bad for unsaved data). If not, you might fry it completely.
The 5MPix camera is worse than my old 3-MPix I had years ago. The photos are very blueish (horrible). With little light it gets even worse and seems like an old digital camera with only 1 MPix . It's really only for emergencies
Music on the Micro SD card can be accessed, but only through a quite complicated path (via the File Explorer) and it can not play an entire folder on the card (only one title at a time). The internal memory of the Diamond 2 is too small to fill it with many songs.
So the Diamond 2 is also no use as an MP3 Player.
The WIFI often loses the signal, even only a meter away from the router.
Trying to update your stocks or the weather it just rolls and rolls, only to finally inform you that the WIFI connection failed. This even though the symbol on top shows you an existing line.
So you waste time again and again reestablishing your net connection. Absolutely tiresome!!!
While you can change the sound for the cellphone function into whatever you like, the same does not apply for functions such as Skype, which has just one simple tone (an idiotic rrrrrrrring).
Since the output of sound to the earphones is the same as the entry of the charger / USB connector, you can't listen and charge at the same time (ig. in a car, in front of the PC ...).
And connected via USB to the PC, the unit uses up a lot more power than it loads.
(Even when you have your settings to "Always recharge").
Thus, after transferring pictures or documents between the two, you also have to recharge the unit right away again as it is normally completely empty afterwards. Very annoying.
Apart from all this, the support of the HTC is absolutely zero, by phone or via e-mail (from South America, to US, to Europe; I called them all). It seems they don't even read the full e-mail and just send you stupid pre-manufactured answers; never caring a bit about your troubles. My 12+ e-mails did not get one intelligent response to resolve the problem.
Conclusion: It is a hell lot of money for something that has been released too fast with too many unsolved problems and some parts which are really low quality.
I deeply regret to have wasted my money this way.
