Why is browsing the internet so slow using Wi-Fi
I am connecting the HTC Touch HD to my network at home using Wi-Fi and it is so slow....slower than even 56k speed. My network is high speed DSL internet and it is really fast when I browse the internet with my laptop wirelessly.
Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Why is browsing the internet so slow using Wi-Fi
Probably not
WiFi speeds are generally poor on WM devices- neither of my devices can connect at more than about 900kbps according to the speed test program I use. My 3 HSDPA connection manages the same with a good signal.
What is interesting is that even with a good signal, web page loading on the WM devices is much slower than on my Advent Netbook with built-in SIM slot. Even full PC style pages load faster on the Advent than mobile optimised sites on the Diamond or Ameo.
So, the poor speed over WiFi may just be a symptom of poor overall speed capability in mobile devices.

Re: Why is browsing the internet so slow using Wi-Fi
I remember that when I was browsing the internet with my friend's T-mobile G1, it was a lot faster even when it was just using EDGE speed.

I'm actually quite impressed downloading full webpages, the speed seems comparable to laptops whether I'm at home or at work. What can one use to measure?

I tried that way back, it is for WM 5 devices so not sure if it will run or not on WM6+ let alone VGA devices! It used to be quite a battery drainer too iirc.

That looks pretty good. I used to use their phone dashboard ages ago and it was excellent.
