Dont know how to connect to activesync

Hi,
Ive been trying for a while now to connect this phone to the computer active sync and jus cannot, when i connect the phone to computer a screen appears saying active sync or disk drive, i selected first the active sync and then also the active sync and the screen just goes away and nothing happens, i then tried start>programs>active sync which opens on the phone but only the button menu appears at the bottom and the sync botton on the left hand side does appear but not as a button just faded out.
Can anyone help me please.

How have you got the Sync set up on the PC? Assuming you are using Win XP. have you installed the latest version of ActiveSync which comes with the Diamond?

Once installed, connect the Diamond to the PC, and after you select ActiveSync, then Connect on the Diamond, you should see the drivers installing on the PC, following which the New PArtnership Wizard ought to start.

If you are using Vista, then ActiveSync won't work, and you'll need to install Windows Mobile Device Centre on the PC- this is also included on the companion CD.

Hi Thanks for the reply, sorry i couldnt get back to you earlier i was away,
ive downloaded the latest active sync from the cd but when i open it and connect the phone nothing happens, not even like the new hardware. when i go to sync in the phone the sync button is fadded and cannot be pressed. i then tried installing active sync from the website thinking it could be a newer version and same problem.
do i need to configure anything in the phone.

To get ActiveSync to work on my phone I had to disable advanced network functionality.

To do this:

Start > Settings select the connections tab

Select USB to PC

Uncheck the box 'Enable advanced network functionality' and click 'ok'.

Assuming you are connecting through USB, check that USB connections are enabled on your PC, in ActiveSync. This can be found at File > Connection Settings

Good points Mike; also make sure you connect to a direct USB connection on the PC, not a USB hub.

ive managed to work it now, turns out the htc diamond didnt like my PC and only worked on my brothers laptop i only wanted to use it to sync the tom tom so thats done and tested working, now im jus going to bluetooth stuff over to the phone no syncing the phone. thanks alot for all the advice i also think i need to buy myself a new computer when i can save up again (everythings gone on this phone so back to being broke for a while)

I wonder if it was a firewall issue on your computer.

Not really sure, ill have to get my cousin down to find out the problem, hes the computer expert i know, Thanks for letting me know ill tell him to check it out for me might save me from thinking about getting a new computer after all.
