G-sensor with TomTom

Folks!

I'm due to upgrade from my Hermes and am considering the G-sensor equiped Touch Diamond or Touch Pro and I gather that with the introduction of the G-sensor HTC have removed the manual screen orientation function with the keyboard closed.

One of my chief uses of my Hermes is with TomTom in landscape mode. Can anyone tell me how well TomTom and the G-sensor work together?

Many thanks!

Re: G-sensor with TomTom

You should just be able to install a utility (such as SPB Pocket Plus - but there are plenty of others) that lets you rotate the screen on a button push - whether HTC have removed the function or not.

Sorry, not sure on the TomTom thing but I have heard it only works in some apps.

Re: G-sensor with TomTom

i was under the impression that you could have an "exclusion" list - so you can setup the device to ignore GSensor input for certain apps.

Re: G-sensor with TomTom

The Diamond, 'out of the box' only auto rotates in a few select apps, like Opera and Album.

To acheive auto-rotation in other apps, there is a small utility produced by SKKV software; this has options to allow rotation in all apps, or to exclude some with an exclusion list. This app doesn't work at all with some of the newer ROM builds.

For TomTom use, then any app which allows screen rotation manually ought to work, as TT will open in whichever is the current orientation. Sat Nav programs are best not used with G-Sensors active, as teh G forces while driving can have unpredictable results

Re: G-sensor with TomTom

I have tried the screen rotation with Tomtom on the E-Ten v900 that has a Gravity Sensor and it works a treat!

Re: G-sensor with TomTom

Didn't TomTom 6 have the option to manually rotate the screen from within the app or am I living the past, thinking of an older version?
