New Diamond - Wow, but it's fiddly!
So now I've finally got hold on my Diamond through work and I've been playing with it for 2 days now, and it is quite a departure from the Orbit 2, though I can see the evolution from that device to this.
The form factor is much improved over the last generation, but I can't help thinking that the larger screensize in the last generation is better for the fat-fingered amongst us (*ahem* me). No doubt, I'll get used to it, but I do miss my Start menu key.
Is there a way of setting the Home key on the Diamond to open the Start menu?
In the last 3 hours, I've been making some of the TF3D tweaks and have had as many hard resets in as many hours. I've had the Orbit 2 for 8 months and have never had to hard reset it.
Other than that, it's a fantastic phone and I don't think I will be swapping it for the Touch Pro after seeing the size comparison: the same reason why the Tytn II sat in my workbag for 8 months, virtually unused. ( <-- that's for sale BTW, look in the Misc Swaps section in the forum)
Now I have to convince my girlfriend that it's not the phone for her, as she keeps trying to nick it off me! Well, at least until I can afford something else!

Glad to hear you're liking the progressed form form factor.
Why so many hard resets?

Re: New Diamond - Wow, but it's fiddly!
For some unknown reason, some of the tweaks for the TF3D are incompatible with my phone and it just hangs when trying to load TF3D after reboot.
The cache tweaks seem to work alright, so I'm going to leave it at that until I get Sprite backup running with it so I can perform a more thorough test with the tweaks and not have to reinstall everything from scratch.
So far so good though, I'm very impressed the TF3D interface, though I REALLY miss the start button. Surely, as the button layout is similar to he Orbit 2, the home button must be reprogrammeable to act as a startkey?
Anyone know if this is possible?

Re: New Diamond - Wow, but it's fiddly!
you tried something like AEButtons? or Spb Pocket Plus?
However - I've heard that if you remap the Home button, as soon as you run TF3D, it will overwrite your changes to make Home button go to TF3D Home again

Re: New Diamond - Wow, but it's fiddly!
I really don't recommend TF3D [Edit- I mean I don't recommend TF3D Tweak programs!]
It slows things down on later ROMs, which are already optimised much better than early ones, and adds the instability you have been seeing.
AE Button Plus can possibly be used to remap the hardware buttons to an extent, but can't cope with Press/Hold actions. (WaveyDavey used it to remap the BAck button to OK I think, though it didn't work for me). Can be downloaded as a trial; Spb Pocket Plus may be similar, but I've not tried it as it is a bit wasted on a devcie with TF3D

now i'm confused... you don't recommend TF3D, but Pocket Plus is wasted on a device with TF3D?

Re: New Diamond - Wow, but it's fiddly!
Sorry - something amiss with the brain today
I omitted the word 'tweaks' after Tf3D !
I found that using a tweak program caused the interface to be slower and led to some instability !

AE Button plus worked for the remapping of the Ok button, but I tried to remap a button to lock the device and that worked ok in the OS but failed in T3D.

Re: New Diamond - Wow, but it's fiddly!
I got mine last Sat (08:42! Too early for a saturday )
It's a T-mobile - so though i think it's a Diamond, it hasn't got that flashy back.
Well, It's very different from the Vario II (Hermes) that I had. And it broke after four days - Wireless and Bluetooth just wouldn't activate - so T-mobile sent me another brand new replacement.
About customisation, I'm confused by some of the above - is it still ok to use Diamond TF3D Config v0.6.7 to change themes - the Pink clock is not really my style - and I'm not giving this phone to my daughter yet!
And how can you stop the phone turning off after a call is connected. It seems like 50% of my calls this week ahve started with a voice menu, ("press 4 to get to the next level -but beware there's 65 levels still to go" type of thing). Having to turn the phone back n every time to use the keypad is a nightmare.
