Re: Layman here - what ROM?
Yes we do seem to be Neil, but I will still argue that the battery life will be improved, lol!

Re: Layman here - what ROM?
Have you done the Hard SPL and the radio? It should definitely not hard reset your device it should only soft reset it at the most.

Re: Layman here - what ROM?
Well Hard SPL installed and it would appear that it has done a hard reset as everything has been lost.
Tried to install the radio twice and both times its failed with ERROR [262]: UPDATE ERROR.
Starting to wish I hadn't bothered

Re: Layman here - what ROM?
Don't give up, all will be fine, you have your backup thank goodness! Disconnect the device from the USB cable, put the device into bootloader mode by holding down the volume down button and pressing the reset button in the stylus silo until the tri-colour bootloader screen shows that should have the line SPL-1.40.Olinex. This will prove that the Hard SPL has taken.
Now leave it in bootloader mode and connect back to the PC via USB cable. Do not worry about the device connecting to activesync/WMDC it will be connected via USB, now try flashing the radio upgrade again, it may take a few tries but should work ok.

How long did the HardSPL take to install? It sounds as if you may have inadvertantly installed a ROM update.
A HardSPL update takes about 2 minutes to complete; a Radio ROM about 10 minutes, and an OS ROM update about 10 minutes. A full Radio/OS update takes about 15 minutes.

Re: Layman here - what ROM?
Yep but remember HardSPL will cause a hard reset for it to install.

Re: Layman here - what ROM?
I used the link as provided by Boz. So Darren would appear to be correct, it did cause a hard reset.

Must be down to different versions- I used the Jockyw Hardspl which didn't hard reset the device.
