in car profile
Hi all,
Anyone know if there is a way of creating and easily switching profiles on the TP2 like you can have on the Nokia's.
What I'm looking for ultimately is a quick way of turning on/off the following;
Auto answer
Bluetooth
Audio gateway connection
I'm looking to do this so I can have an auto answer hands free in the car, I'm already using my laptop for satnav so it makes sense to use it for sound also.
If there's anyway of sending the incomiing caller ID too the laptop as well that would be even better.
All input much appreciated.
Thanks
Jon

Re: in car profile
Hi jonh, I myself use SBSH Phoneweaver to perform automatic profile switching for me. Version 2 supports location based profiles as well...
Most of my profiles are time switched, but you can also have a car profile that activates when power is attached, you can also control profiles by location, this uses cell towers as a trigger.
There are also other products such as PocketMax Phonealarm and Spb Phone Suite.
We do have reviews on site... Spb PhoneSuite & SBSH Phoneweaver...

Re: in car profile
Hi Jim,
Thanks, have downloaded the trial for phone weaver and it looks good.
I can straight away see how it will turn on the blue tooth and auto answer and yes it will even switch profiles just by plugging in the car charger, great.
One thing though I can't see how I can get it to connect the audio gateway or hands free services within bluetooth.
I have them as auto connect on my laptop but I still need to select them on the phone.
Any ideas?
Jon.

Re: in car profile
I got to admit, when Phoneweaver switches my Bluetooth on, I then switch my bluetooth headset on and it connects... Same with my car, when bluetooth is on, the kit connects without issue.
Is this what you mean Jon? What devices are you wanting to autoconnect?

Re: in car profile
Ahhh, right I see, you want to switch on sub functions of bluetooth individually? I don't recall ever doing that!!

Re: in car profile
I don't know whether programs such as Teksoft BlueAudio allow profile selection in the configs, but if so, you could use the Execute function within each PhoneWeaver profile to run a program to select the BT profile?

Re: in car profile
I've just checked out the feature-set of BlueAudio and it does not look like it will do it.

Re: in car profile
Hi all,
Have downloaded trials of all 3 that fowljr mentioned and at the moment am going to stick with phoneweaver as being the most straight forward to use.
The issue with the headset or audio service is that most times I find when you turn on bluetooth the service you used last is auto connected and certainly while I've been testing this is the case, however if I use active sync over bluetooth and then get in the car I want it to turn on the audio not anything else.
I found that either phone alarm or phone suite has the facility to select a bluetooth service (can't remember which one) so problem solved but it didn't have the option to turn on the speaker phone, so when in the car but no laptop it's of no help.
Going to stick with phoneweaver for now and see how I get on with it starting the relevant audio service.
Has anyone else noticed battery life being affected? Maybe it's just the extra use of playing with settings but I'm now only getting about 5-6 hours.
Thanks all.
Jon
Almost forgot phoneweaver works alongside touchflo whereas the others are today screen only and I do like touchflo, it's just so easy to get at things.

Re: in car profile
I've just been looking into the same things myself and I too ended up back with PhoneWeaver instead of PhoneAlarm. PA I still love but hate how it imposes it's own config settings which take ages to back out!
PW is good but needs some updating ref finger friendliness, WM6.5.3 compatibility, GPS location features. I dropped a line to SBSH the other day giving my thoughts but heard nothing back yet!
