HTC Touch Pro announced

The HTC Touch Pro™ brings together elegant touch screen response with the direct precision of keyboard entry… leaving out nothing to deliver a powerhouse communication tool in a beautiful, compact design.

The 2.8-inch VGA touch screen provides four times the resolution of most smart devices, making email, documents and web pages sharper and easier to work with than ever before.

HTC’s rich, touch-responsive interface, TouchFLO™ 3D, provides a stunningly intuitive way to zip through common tasks like messaging, calendar checks or making calls. Delve a little deeper to find that playing media files, searching for contacts and surfing the web are also responsive to your touch.

The web browser puts the full Internet in the palm of your hand. Websites look just like they do on a PC, and TouchFLO™ 3D makes it easy to pan around and zoom in on exactly the information you’re looking for. If you need a wide screen, simply tilt the Touch Pro sideways and the page switches to landscape view.

Slide out the 5-row QWERTY keyboard to make light work of typing-intensive tasks like composing email or working on Microsoft Office® documents… perfect for when your day takes a serious turn.

High speed connectivity will keep you in touch with colleagues and contacts wherever you are. Integrated GPS can be used with maps software for a full turn-by-turn satellite navigation experience.

Built-in Wi-Fi and TV-out functionality* mean you can hook up to the local wireless hot spot to surf, then deliver the perfect PowerPoint® presentation without a laptop in sight.

A beautiful angle on business, the HTC Touch Pro introduces effortless presence to enterprise-standard communications.

Highlights
  • Mobile Internet features - surf and download at broadband speed with HSDPA and Wi-Fi®
  • 2.8-inch touch screen, with four times the resolution of most phones.
  • Vibrant TouchFLOTM 3D user interface.
  • Five-row QWERTY keyboard for quick and easy text entry.
  • Surf and download at broadband speed with HSDPA and Wi-Fi®:
  • 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash light for quality stills and video.
  • microSD™ slot for expandable storage.
  • Integrated GPS can be used with maps software for a full turn-by-turn navigation experience.
Note: *HTC TV-out cable is needed.

That's the first confirmation I've seen that the device includes an accelerometer. Does anyone know if the Diamon is supposed to include one as well?

I must admit, having said in the Poll I lived the Xperia, this DOES look rather nice. The combination of "very slim", large rom, keyboard, accelerometer (probably the best thing in the iPhone) and a MicroSD slot makes it very tempting. With 16GB cards already down to £70 on the net you could get a very nice all-in-one package for around £500.

Now, how much do you think I'd get for a four month old Touch Cruise on eBay?

Re: HTC Touch Pro announced

i'm still thinking the Xperia just has that extra "support" - i mean i'm hoping support for updates will be better than HTC currently gives us.

I want to see both of these devices in my hand to choose.

Damn! I want them both! haha

Yes it does include an accelerometer for definate, as I have been messing with the new Diamond album app, and it needs it to turn from landscape to portrait, it states it in the help file also for the app.

Do we know which carriers in the USA are going to carry this baby?

I was full on going to get the Xperia X1, but I've grown to dislike Sony thanks to all the returns/replacements of their other products I've purchased...

So since HTC finally released more than a grainy cell phone picture of this, I'm jumping Sony's ship. Not to mention this forum rocks, and is pretty selective to HTC.

I currently have a 8525 (tytn), but I have no room left!! I've been tempted as hell to get the Tilt (tytn II), but it doesnt seem to be much of an upgrade.

Don't think we will see this puppy in the US anytime soon... I've read somewhere like October, but can't confirm this at the moment...

I know the feeling about being tempted with the TyTN II (Tilt), but didn't want to waste an upgrade just for the GPS and more memory, but with this device, I already jumped on it and pre-ordered myself one... As for AT&T, I'll just tell them I have the Tilt and it will match all of the stuff currently provisioned for my account, all they have to do is change my IMEI number and I am off to the races, but still have to wait until Clove has them in stock... This also allows me to have the device as intended from HTC, before all of the bloatware gets added...

Oh, did I say, I likes I likes a lot... If not, then let me say it now... I LIKES, I LIKES A LOT... Oh and I said that the referral came from 4WM...
