Will do Marisa
I said not yet because HTC and Microsoft should solve this but of course I have more chance of flying to the moon!
I am sure Mr Gates has a policy to put these bugs in to force everyone to upgrade
great smilies here !

I use Office 2007 quite a lot, but not in standalone mode unfortunately.

Re: HTC touch, WM6 activesync 4.5 outlook 2003 windows XP and PROBLEM!!
Hi again
Well I bit the bullet and upgraded to outlook 2007 and guess what?
STILL have the same problem???
I upgraded to outlook 2007, uninstalled activesync and reinstalled it rebooted the PC and the device and hey presto the problem was back.
All really really really wild ideas gratefully accepted before I trade this HTC in for a simple motorola or something else!
Thank you all
Elly

Definitely try the export to excel and import back in trick again now, and it should be ok.

I have been able to add programs and copy files via activesync so I guess thats something?

Re: HTC touch, WM6 activesync 4.5 outlook 2003 windows XP and PROBLEM!!
This si such an unusual problem, that it may be there isn't a fix for you. The reimport of contacts via Excel should have worked, at least for those contacts that synced previously.
The nature of your problem- some items won't sync despite reinstaling Activesync, Outlook, Contacts and Calendar items, and repairing the outlook.pst file strongly suggests there is something within those items preventing the synchronisation, rather than any fault with the system itself.
Is there anything at all that links the failed items? Were they imported from a previus phone; is journalling turned on for those; are there any categories assigned to those items, etc etc.
You have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to fix this, and now seem to be worse off at the end of it! Short of examining each item in a detailed view to see if there are any common fields involved, (look specifically at which item of data is entered into which Outlook field, paying particular attention to the various locations for Address, Name and Business name etc) you may need to re-enter the missing items manually (how many are there?)
I suspect that changing to another WM device willl show the same result; it may also be the same with another make of phone, if the contacts derive from Outlook.
It's cold comfort for you, but once your erroneous items are successfully synced, the system should work very well indeed. I suspect that any new items you create will sync correctly- the problem lies with some aspect of your historical data.

Re: HTC touch, WM6 activesync 4.5 outlook 2003 windows XP and PROBLEM!!
Neil's it's a strange one. I also agree with the theory about formatting issues with your current data.
Could you try creating a contact from scratch? Just a name and a telephone number and see if that syncs?
I've just been looking down the thread have you performed a hardware reset on your device since you had the issues at all?

Ellie did mention a hard reset in a previous post, but it may be worth checking whether it was a full factory reset (did the Align Screen and Tutorial configuration run after the reset?)
SHe reports that creating new items on the PPC and the PC both result in those items syncing correctly, so it does still seem the historical data is corrupt in some way.

Re: HTC touch, WM6 activesync 4.5 outlook 2003 windows XP and PROBLEM!!
I guess another option would be to export to excel and PM the file over to one of us to try and import. See if it is device/system specific. Not sure how she would feel about that though.

Hi
I have 250 contacts on my laptop which are the ones I am trying to sync. After this on my desktop I have about 2000 I would like to sync with but dare not!
Where I am at now is, not being able to sync anything from my laptop to the device. Although copying files and add new progs in activesync works fine.
If I enter a new contact in the laptop (name and tel number only) it says it is syncing then does not show the new contact.
Activesync shows how many items need to sync and then just puts a checkbox in the box.
For example it will say Contacts 0/281, will sit there for a second then just put a checkbox. Nothing is synced. I have installed/uninstalled Activesync, I have done a hard reset on my device (Having to re align screen, set up owner info etc) and still nothing. It acts like it is syncing, but never changes from 0/xxx counting up. Sits there for a few seconds then puts a checkmark. The next time it syncs it acts like it's up to date. It's like all the information is there, I just can't see it.
From the device I can add a new contact (name and tel only) and it will show up on the Device and sync to my PC.
I am now using outlook 2007, Windows XP pro SP2, Activesync 4.5, WM6 on HTC touch.
I would be happy to pm my contacts to the whole world if it will solve my problem (just kidding) will PM it to whoever thinks they can help please.
Thank you all.
Elly
