Back to your main issue, there are some intriging facts which defy rational explanation!

Some of your contacts and Appintments will not copy to the Touch

This is despite a whole set of revamping everything possible and fresh installs f all the relevant apps

A factory reset of the Touch failed to cure things

Exporting/reimporting Outlook data failed to cure the problem

Removing/remaking partnerships fails to solve the issue

Newly created items seem to sync OK.

The same Outlook data syncs to your daughters SPV M2000 without any problem

Right up to that last point, I would have said this looks like a data error within Outlook, but the fact that this same data syncs to a WM2003 device perfectly may belie that opinion.

That leaves the unlikely possibility that this could be a hardware fault. I've been around these devices for years and have to say I haven't encountered any hardware fault that could account for this, except on a device last year where a faulty USB cable caused errors in syncing. The next step would be to try & obtain another Touch (beg, steal, borrow etc ) and see if it exhibits the same problem? Unlikely I know but.....

Hello Neil

I agree it defies all logic. However, your last observation to borrow another touch is in hand!

WaveyDavey is going to import my contact list that I emailed to him today onto his device to see if he can recreate the problem. Oh I do hope not!

So perhaps we might learn something from this.

meanwhile I have to say, I am so impressed by how much everyone has helped.

Thank you

Elly

We don't like to be beaten!

Hopefully Dave will be able to shed a little more light on the matter, but if it's inconclusive, you may need to consider if you want to send him the whole outlook.pst file

Re: HTC touch, WM6 activesync 4.5 outlook 2003 windows XP and PROBLEM!!

Hi Elly,

Bad news I'm afraid, I installed Office 2003, installed Activesync 4.5, imported the contacts from the excel file and synchronised the Touch. All 220 or so contacts came across fine first time.

I'm not sure where this leaves us now, but as you've already hard reset your device I think you're either looking at dodgy hardware in the phone department or an issue somewhere with your PC. I have to say I think it's more likely to be your PC in my opinion. Do you have another PC you can try it on?

Hi

On the contrary this is GOOD news. Means all I have gone through for the last few days can be resolved.

I can give it a whirl on my daughters laptop later today.

And Thank you

Elly

Does it not look more like a device, or device cable problem, as Elly was able to sync ALL content from her laptop to her daughter's SPV M2000 (HTC Blue Angel) ?

I'd think this would be the best step - check cable (cheap) then device (costly) first...

Re: HTC touch, WM6 activesync 4.5 outlook 2003 windows XP and PROBLEM!!

I'm not so sure. Logically you'd think it pointed at the device but I just don't think syncing with a WM2003 device really counts. It's different. It also doesn't explain the partial sync earlier on. Personally I'd try a different PC first, then if the same problems occur look at the Touch or the cable.

Re: HTC touch, WM6 activesync 4.5 outlook 2003 windows XP and PROBLEM!!

HI everyone

So just to let you know where I am at.

I saved my outlook stuff to a pst file which i imported into my daughters laptop.

I installed outlok 2007 and activesync 4.5 on her laptop.

Set up a connection with her laptop my HTC AND...

I got her contacts, none of mine, SOME of my appointments, and as she does not have any none of hers.

I got tasks I entered as a test, she does not have any.

And then I got a call back from HTC support.

They have asked me to try a few things like uninstall my antivirus software then set up new partnership will give you chapter and verse only if it works.

They say if it is the cable or device or the software on the device they will sort it out free of charge but as they have had reported problems like this before and sorted them out I should try this first.

So will give it a try and report back. Have to say, apart from taking almost a week to call back they are trying and say if it is not sorted within 2 weeks they will give me a new device regardless.

So cant ask fairer than that.

Will keep you all posted

BIG THANK YOU and

to you all

Elly

Re: HTC touch, WM6 activesync 4.5 outlook 2003 windows XP and PROBLEM!!

That looks like good news on HTC's part- at least they acknowledge your problem.

The results of your daughter's laptop are a little confusing- you say you installed OL 2007, but that you got some of her contacts onto your Touch? Was she previously using another version of Outlook?

To make the test more valid, you really need to try with a clean version of your own data only as the Outlook.pst file- if your daughter had her own OL file, you may have simply imported your data into her file.

Anyway, the fact that even this hybrid pst file (some of yours and some of hers!) still only resulted in some of your data going across but all of hers, and the fact that Dave was able to import all your data into his Touch without error, makes this look more like a cable or device fault (though I still can't see why a hardware fault would be so choosy!)

Good luck with HTC!

[Edit: BTW- if HTC want evidence of your efforts, point them at this thread!]
