Do I need a new phone?

I am on my second orbit 2- 1st one was unreliable in connection to O2 phone network (showing service, but couldn't make calls or receive intermittently). I was told to get a new phone (and SIM card) from the O2 shop- they replaced it with another one (box already open, apparently on hold for another customer, though I'm wondering if it was a returned unit)- I kept the origninal SD card as I had a few files on it, did a hard reset), registered copilot 7. The speed camera alerts don't work (I've seen another thread addressing this, though have had no response from ALK customer service, as I'm still having problems a). The co-pilot seems to crash a lot/ very slow in loading journeys and before this the internet explorer crashes after loading up screens such as the times home page. I really like the features the orbit 2 offers, but want a reliable system. Have I just got another faulty phone or can should I try a few things first?

Many thanks for any advice!

Nick

Personally I'd try a hard reset first don't install anything and see how that runs if it is ok load one app at a time and see if anything goes wrong. If it still crashes on a vanilla system then yes sounds like it is back to the O2 shop

Hi Nick and welcome to 4WM

Sorry to hear of your problems, you say you kept the original SDHC card, which make is it? I ask because there were problems with a batch of Transend cards on the Orbit 2 which did cause Co Pilot problems.

Re: Do I need a new phone?

Thanks for your replies- it is a transcend card -is this likely to be faulty (sat nav worked ok on my first handset with this card)? What is the latest version of copilot, this handset has version 7.0.6.139 and it doesn't give options to upgrade safety alerts with the desktop software (connected via active sync), only options of downloading new voices. ALK UK customer services haven't got back to me (emailed them 2 days ago). Is it easy to upgrade to a new version (do I use the desktop program to do this?)

If I do a hard reset, I will lose all my settings such as voice dialling- do you think it is likely to work? I'm tempted to get a new phone (I'm suspect that this one was previously returned to the O2 shop, maybe because of problems I'm experiencing??). Have there been firmware/ software updates on phones being sold now (compared to ones sold when first released by O2?), again supporting a change to a new phone. I'd appreciate if anyone could let me know a way of telling how old the phone is?

Sorry about all the questions- I want to make sure I get a phone which doesn't need multiple resets and hopefully be something I can trust, which I don't at the moment!

Nick
