HTC Touch Dual - missing disk?

Hi guys
I'm completely new to the world of PDA's and Windows mobile etc. I ofcourse want to sync this lovely phone to my pc and get the best out of its features. However my phone had no disk in the box! I rang the shop [phones4U - gloucester] and was told it dosn't come with one! But when I plug the phone into the PC it remains unrecognised.
Am I getting the run around from the shop or do I need a lesson in basic hardware installation? or worse?

Thanks

Re: HTC Touch Dual - missing disk?

Hi, and welcome to 4WM!

I'm pretty sure that all current HTC devices should come with one or two disks- 1 has a trial of Outlook 2007, and a copy of MS Activesync; the other, where supplied has GPRS Monitor and Sprite Backup.

In reality though, you don't need a dsik to get your device to synchronise with the PC, though you do need a copy of Outlook 2003 or later. WM devices can't sunc with Outlook Express (XP) or Windos Mail (Vista)

To get the sync working, if you hav Windows XP, go to Microsoft's site and download ActiveSync V4.x (not sure what the lates is!); Run the installer BEFORE connecting the device- at the end of the install it asks you to connect, then set your preferences.

For Vista, you need to download Windows Mobile Device Centre- again, running this to install it, then connecting the device should give you a partnership.

If you have any problems, get back to us and we'll help!

Activesync 4.5 is the latest and you can get it from Microsoft directly here:
