Re: Advent 4211 / 4213 Vista upgrade and performance

Not enough time or too many toys to play with?

Obviously can't be the latter as you can never have too many toys.

Strange I'm only getting:

CPU - 3
Memory - 4.5
Graphics - 2.8
Gaming graphics - 2.6
HDD - 5.2

My video driver version is 7.14.10.1504 is that the right one?

Ahh scratch that, after some tinkering i've got the Graphics to 4.1 and the Gaming to 2.7, much better

Sorry, I personally don't like Vista (& I seem to be in 'good' company - due to become the first MS OS to have it's predecessor, ie XP, still supported when it's successor, ie Windows 7, is released).

Yeah, my installation of Vista on my MacBook lasted all of 20 minutes before I scrapped it and put XP on it instead... not that I ever really used it; it was just for some application I needed for some uni work, but I dropped the course before I ever needed it.

I'm thinking about upgrading to Vista now though (on the 4213)... after using OS X, XP seems very old and feature-lacking... but then, on a low-spec machine, I'm not sure if it's worth the slight performance penalty, and I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of upgrading to find Vista's just as annoying as it was back when I first tried it and have to start a fresh.

I have just upgraded to vista home premium on my 4213 the only slight annoyance is on start up everything takes a few seconds except for the osd 1.4 software which takes an age does anyone have a work around for getting this app to start up quicker.
