You will have to sell your other half the benefits of motorcycling!

Ha I wish. (I once saw a family of 6 on a trials bike, slowly riding though ceme - turkey).
My other 'alf is so keen for me to use the car she gave me her old punto sport... nice... and paid for the lessons as I never got round to doing my car test in london (could not see the point).

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
Sounds like fun Rick, did you get your knee down then? I keep meaning to try a track day but never get around to it!
@Windows9t8
With the money you have saved there using the other half's car you would should be able to afford a nice bike!
Just put some carbon fibre bits on mine, new Art carbon tankpad and genuine Yamaha carbon frame protectors. The frame protectors were new and unused, still in the packaging and I only paid £20 on Ebay, bargain! I didn't want to wait for the postie so I made a 200 mile round trip to pick them up, good excuse to use the bike!

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
Surprisingly they pulled anyone in who started to hang off the bike. I don't know whether that comes in later sessions (they do 4 levels). So no, didn't get my knee down but do have some grooves in the side of my boot (toes down) !!!!
Did my first track day at Donington last Autumn. Always put it off thinking they'd be full of hooligans. It wasn't like that at all however.
I must say from my experience though, a race school session first and then track day would reap bigger benefits and grins.
That R1 is gonna end up winning a custom bike show if you keep going. £20 is an amazing bargain. Looks good.

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
I will have to seriously consider doing something similar, but it will have to wait until next year now, other commitments this year. It does seem as you say to be getting you through stage by stage at the riders school, so by the 4th session you should be top notch.
I was going to keep my bike standard but I started off thinking "I will just get this" and now I can't seem to stop, the list is endless! I have all the parts though if I want to put it back to standard.
I am looking forward to seeing the 2009 R1, you never know I may be tempted!

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
Hi all,
I have been riding on and off for the last 15 years. For the last 5 years i have been back on the iron steed in a big way - driven mainly by the fact that i refused to spend an hour a day sat in traffic to and from work..
I have a TL100r, and have been abroad 4 times now on her - France/Belgium/luxmbourg & Germany. Totally excellent
I have just come back from a trip to north west france with the lads, where we did some of the WW2 memorials.. Utah & Omaha beach, American cemetry etc. and that was truly stunning.

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
Nice pics mate, your bike is ideal for touring, it would be a struggle on mine! I know what you meaan about the traffic situation it has got pretty bad lately I must say, that was an interesting idea for your last tour and probably fascinating too.

Sorry, while mobile I just tried to edit the post 2 before this for language but looks like I've messed up the formatting, and I can't fix it.
EDIT:- No worries, now sorted, boz

My sister in-law lives just down the road from Omaha beach, and we've done the tour of the beaches a couple of times. It's very interesting, but also quite a powerful experience. I should imagine even more so for those have some recollection of the war.

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
Nice bike, there are some good roads in Lincolnshire to have fun with. Sunny Skeggy for the summer that can't be bad.
