Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
I went to a local bike show on Sunday and thought I would enter my R1 into the show in the sports bike section after spending half of Saturday cleaning it anyway. I had never done a show before and I thought it would be a new experience for me, and a good excuse to stay out a while with my mates!
Anyway the judges came round one being from Custom Bike magazine, after waiting for a while the results were read out over the PA system for each catagory, and I came first in the sports section, I was amazed and could have fell through the floor, and am now the proud owner of an engraved glass tankard!
The same bloke usually wins every year with his purple and red Honda in the picture, he even asked if I wanted to sell the bike to him afterwards as he was after an R1 anyway, cheeky bugger!
My bike with a few of the other sports bike entrants:-

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
Congratulations Boz. That's amazing. I would have thought you would need to learn all the little tricks of the trade and what the judges are looking for before you'd stand a chance of winning one of those.
Talking of bikes, the first of the new fireblades arrived on the Island the weekend before last. My brother-in-law (who buys the new 'Blade every other year) was given the first test ride by the local dealer. Just coming back into town he dropped it and broke both his ankles! Not sure which he was most upset about. Breaking both his ankles or dropping a brand new Fireblade!

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
Cheers bassey, that is the funny thing I just washed it as usual and finished it off with Autoglym products as I usually do, even now I still have no idea on how the bikes are marked and what they look out for!
Crikey, sorry to hear about the brother-in-law mate that is nasty, I hope it wasn't down to the bike!
The Fireblade has been available over here for a while now, I can't decide if I like them or not to be honest, a friend of mine has one and it seems to lack mid range grunt and so the revs need to be held high most of the time which isn't good, my R1 will potter around town in 6th gear quite happily at 30mph.

Re: Any keen motorcyclists here?
He blames the show-room-shine on the shoulders of the tires. Claims he had it cranked over for a very slow corner back in town. At least, that's what he told the missus!
