What music are you listening too?

From the number of threads discussing bluetooth headphones i guess i'm surrounded by music fans.

The question is what do you listen to?

I'm into most music but if i had to pick a favourite it would be hip hop.

Re: What music are you listening too?

Just got a Screaming Trees album (Dust). I'd never heard any of their stuff before but was aware of them because Mark Lanagan (of Queens of the Stoneage fame) was in the band so gave them a listen. Fantastic stuff!

Also just got the new Sigur Ros album (with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly). Fantastic album. My wife hates Sigur Ros but even she loves the first couple of tracks.

Also Wilco, The Ting Tings and Interpol.

Plus, on the way home in the car last night my little boy (only 21 months) was falling asleep - which we didn't want him to do - when Metallica - Enter Sandman came on the radio. Before you know it, all three of us were rocking along and he was wide awake with a huge grin on his face.

It reminded me of what an awesome album that was!

In the last two weeks we've had Jools Holland and his Rythym and Blues orchestra over here (with Mark Almond as special gues - never much liked him in the 80's but was fantastic the other week) as well as KT Tunstall. She's not my cup of tea but the wife enjoyed it . I was also over in Manchester for the Radiohead gig last week and saw MGMT in support, who I really enjoyed - although I got the impression I was in the minority.

I've not listened to screaming trees but i did like qotsa so i will give it a once over.

Sigur ros are a favourite of my younger brother but again i've not listened to them either.

Did radiohead throw in any classics or was it just in rainbows?

Re: What music are you listening too?

Well ive been enjoying the new Coldplay album and the new Radiohead greatest hits, i do like In Rainbows a lot too. Currently also have the Muse live album in the car which is great driving music kicking off with Knights Of Cydonia, which rocks while hammering down the motorway (at 70 of course!)

Also have The Wombats and The Pigeon Detectives latest releases, as well as the new ones from The Kooks, The Fratellies and The Zutons. Still enjoying Mark Ronson - Version and a bit of Amy Winehouse. Oh and for a change i stuck a weird al yankovic and hayseed dixie in for a laugh.

Re: What music are you listening too?

Ahh, you can't beat Weird Al. I particularly like the eBay song from the last album, though I think Amish Paradise (parody on Coolio, Gangsters Paradise) is my favourite.

Apparently, for the two London Gigs, Radiohead stuck to In Rainbows and then the weird, experimental stuff from Hail to the Thief etc. However, after some really poor reviews and a tepid reaction from the fans they went more mainstream for the Manchester gig. The played most of In Rainbows but the only "weird" one they did was Myximatosis (sp?). Other than that it was mostly OK Computer and The Bends. The light show was fantastic and they interacted with the crowd a lot more than I was expecting. All in all, nearly two and a half hours of great entertainment. People were actually dancing - at a Radiohead gig!

I had the surreal experience of being in the gents Urinals when they came out for a second encore. As they started playing Karma Police, I and the other 50 odd blokes in the toilets all started singing the words quietly to ourselves. Very strange

Re: What music are you listening too?

I like most music - with the exception of most C&W and Rap though as with everything there are exceptions such as Johnny Cash and a Rap band G Incorporated whose name eludes me for the moment.

Currently spending a lot of time listening to The Sensational Alex Harvey, Fijid Pink, The Greatful Dead, Ten Years After and some Trojan reggae collections.

Really need to check out Napster's latest music playlist again to see if there is anyone decent out at the moment but never seem to get the time.

Re: What music are you listening too?

My current playlist is also a bit of a mish-mash of styles!

Most played in the past week are: Faithless (Reverence), Richard Thompson (Sweet Warrior- excellent new album!); Roger Waters (In the Flesh live), Portishead (Third [and unfortunately least!]); Robert Plant and Alison Kraus; Bryan Ferry (Dylanesque [live and studio versions], China Crisis (Working with Fire and Steel) and Peter Green (Green and Guitar). All in the name of research of course, reviewing Pocket Tunes

Re: What music are you listening too?

I'm a 'if I like it, I like it' kind of guy, which sees me span multiple genres... At the moment I've been back to the 80s, bit of Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears and a smattering of Pet Shop Boys mixed in with a bit of Radiohead... The Prodigy also figure heavily as a favourite too!
