Re: VGA to HDMI
Are you running the VGA->HDMI cable into a converter box first, then to the TV?
If not, you need to VGA is analogue and HDMI is digital, so even if you have a cable with the correct terminations, the signals won't be converted, so won't be seen by the TV.
Usng a DVI-D to HDMI cable is OK because both are digital.

Re: VGA to HDMI
Converters are about £40-£50 so maybe an option at some point?

Re: VGA to HDMI
The only way you can run VGA into a TV, is if the TV has a VGA socket
DVI can be analogue or digital which is why VGA to DVI converters can work OK. Unfortunately it doesn't apply to HDMI

Re: VGA to HDMI
Blimey... I can use a VGA cable on the TV as well as it has a VGA port. Why do they sell a VGA to HDMI cable if a device can't actually drive it?

Because some converter boxes use HDMI sockets for both input and output, though the input needs to be VGA standard.
