Doctor Who?

I think in general it was a good finale. I thought the effects were good (except that big gun Rose had looked like it was made out of cardboard!), the actors did well, and it was good to see the Torchwood lot etc, Davros was superb, mad and maniacal. I even liked the whole regeneration aspect and the 2 Doctors & Donna Timelord bits. Some of that was really amusing. They just always seem to put a pointless rubbish scene in there though, in this case the "she cannot remember" scene at the end was utterly pointless, and partially ruined what was otherwise a good episode (although the bit with the Tardis "towing" the earth was a bit far fetched!).

I enjoyed all of it myself a good bit of humour in there in goold old BBC style. I agree though the Earth being towed by the TARDIS was terrible, and worse than that badly done, you could see it wibbling up and down against the stary background.

The bit about Donna losing her memory I could have lived with if only it had not gone on for so long...... get rid of the woman and bring back in a decent assistant. [I still can't stand her and feel the series would have been better with a real actress].

I agree about Donna not keen on her at all,and I was really disappointed with the first few episodes until the assistants from the past came back into it and livened it up.

I kept thinking Donna was going to burst out saying "am I bovvered!"

Tell me about it, but at least we were saved from that happening. I had a feeling though that it was coming very close to it in the last episode!

I thought she was ok, I find her a bit grating (but I guess that's her thing isn't it?) but I really liked her sarcasm. Some of her lines made me laugh out loud. I liked to see the Torchwood lot, but I never really liked Rose that much. She was ok, but I didn't really go for the "love interest". I think Gwen from Torchwood would be a really good assistant.

On a slightly different note, I was gutted when the regeneration scene started and left us at a cliffhanger. I was like "Nooooooo". I think this doctor is the best for a long time.

Agreed the sarcasm worked well with the character, it's just the actress herself, I mean come on she is a commedian after all. Give that role to a real actress and it would have been improved.

Rose was okay as an assistant and improved as time went on, the role leading up to the Bad Wolf times in the second series was very well acted.

Agree with Gwen, she would be superb as an assistant, but I can't see then crossing roles like that. Question.... in the last episode the Doc referred to her old Cardiff roots / ancestry, but neither Aly or I can think where this referred to unless it was in the epidode with Victoria (the werewolf) where Torchwood was created - any ideas?

Agreed over the regeneration cliff hanger I reckon there must have been anguished 'nooooos' all over the place. I used to love Pertwee as my fave Doctor as I grew up with him but Tennant just fits the character of the Doctor so well I agree he is the best yet.

I think he is the best Doctor now too. Tom Baker used to be my fave and I still love the mysterious "aura" he gave off, but Tennant just seems to have it all. He's even good in the poor episodes. Plus it still cracks me up when you see him outside of Doctor Who and he's not putting on the Doctor accent.

Yep when you hear him speaking in his native scottish accent it just seems weird and strange, the mark of a decent actor I guess!

I have to agree that Tennant is THE best Doctor in my opinion too, my previous favourite was Patrick Troughton, way back when.

There is a good site that lists the Doctors and which episodes they appeared in here.

Hmm I remember the change to Patrick Troughton but I still did not like him that much, through my childs eyes he came across as too silly and ridiculous!
