A young girl accidentally falls pregnant and, nine-months later, gives birth to identical twin boys. Unfortunately, she is unable to keep them and so has them adopted to a Spanish family who name them Amal and Juan. The boys are told that they were adopted and are able to keep in touch with their birth mother exchanging the odd letter.
On their eighteenth birthday, Juan decides to send his mother a photograph of himself along with a letter telling his mother how well he is getting on at school and how much he enjoys his life in Spain.
When she reads the letter and sees the photo she bursts into tears. Her now husband asks, "But what is wrong? For eighteen years you have longed to see your boys and now, finally, you have a photo of one of your strapping, handsome sons".
"It's not that" she weeps. "The photo and the letter are wonderful, I just wish I could also see my other son".
"Oh for goodness sake" he replies. "They are identical twins. Once you've seen Juan you've seen Amal".
