HSDPA is a faster version of 3G. With your basic phone signal you should get GPRS which is equivalent to dial-up. 3G (UMTS) is next best in good signal areas where supported and is equivelent to 256kb Broadband. HSDPA is the best speedwise at the moment again only in areas that support and where your signal is very good. This will get you up to 2Mb broadband speeds theoretically. HSUPA is being tested as we speak, and will offer upto 16Mb broadband speeds I believe.
The Touch plus does not support anything above GPRS, so from a speed perspective you're better off with your Tytn II and it's 3G/HSDPA functionality. It would take a lot of effort to get to the 1GB limit on a GPRS machine. Not so difficult on a 3G machine.
