Orange Launch New Plans with Inclusive Data

Orange have today launched a limited number of new mobile phone tariffs which include free Mobile Internet use on packages of £30 or more.

Details are Here

Currently there are only four phones available on the plans- the Samsung Tocco, Samsung Soul, LG Secret and Sony Ericsson C902, all of which are free of charge, and also include a free 8GB MicroSD card.

The Mobile Internet usage has a fair use limit of 500MB per month.

I asked about the Touch Diamond, but was informed that it is likely to be three to four weeks away from release as it's still in final testing.

Wow, massive step forward for Orange though in my book. It now means that they are have become a possbile option for a contract where previously they weren't.

Re: Orange Launch New Plans with Inclusive Data

I agree- being locked into Orange due to phone signal issues, and with both my contracts now up for renewal, I'll be keeping a close eye!

The Data Includive contracts are apparently limited to the specified devices, though are not short term offers, so if necessary I'll just go for one of these and put the SIM card in my Ameo, keeping my old 'voice contract' going with whichever phone I end up with. I'm hoping the Touch Diamond will become available on a similar deal, albeit unlikely to be free.

Each of the four current phones has its strengths- I tried an LG Secret last week, but no signal at all at home. The Samsungs may do better with signals as my current u600 gets a fair reception, but there have been various reports of the Tocco and Soul having usability issues, especially poor call quality, and the SE C902 has a very small screen, and poor build quality.

It is about time too! I don't think Orange had any option but to update their data plans with the competion all doing the same.

I have never been a fan of Orange as they seem to fall into line with their rivals eventually but never set the pace themselves.

Re: Orange Launch New Plans with Inclusive Data

I think Orange may well be the 1st to release the Touch Daimond though- they do have a pretty good track record with WM devices.

Agreed that they lost the plot when they split from Hutchison, and over the last few years their CS has been awful. I have to say though that recent contacts have been pretty good

BTW Boz, why is your post count going backwards? You hit 8000 yesterday now it's 7997!

Weird. That IS going back. I noticed the post about hitting 8000 this morning and, at that time, his count was 7998 - which I thought was a bit weird.

Re: Orange Launch New Plans with Inclusive Data

I've been an Orange customer for 13 years - back then it was an exceptional service provider with some good innovation - though since 2000 it has been downhill for them IMO.

Regarding the new data tariffs a post on another forum suggested he just call orange and change the current tariff to a new data one?

I'll speak to orange later to find out more.

I can imagine this tariff will be no modem use like he 250 one .

Re: Orange Launch New Plans with Inclusive Data

According to the CS rep I spoke to yesterday, the new tariffs were not yet available for existing customers to switch to; however they also said the deal was for the 4 specified phones, but by the end of the day Orange had updated again, and most of the current phones could now be ordered on the saem tariffs- all free except N95 (£30) and another exotic Nokia (£200)

The same restrictions apply as with previous bundles- standard Internet use from the mobile. No streaming and no tethering. Probably no VOIP either but I didn't ask

I just switched to a £30 Per Mth, 600 mins, unlimited text (3000 fair user) and unlimited data (subject to 500mb fair user (no modem access=tethering) The CS agent did mention the calls for 0800 would increase 3p and non geographical by 5p to 15p and 20p respectively

I am tempted by t-mobiles £22 WnW for streaming a VOIP but is this only restricted to skype?
